the root ball smells so funky that one of my dogs (that would be the one who will roll on a dead skunk if you let her) came down to see what the hell i was doing.

one side is deader than hell for the most part but what surprised me was that she is still tactually trying to throw new roots on the side where the rot hasn't totally set in. mother nature is one tough lady .... she just don't give up

the strange shape of the rootball is from me smashing it while i was trying to cut though it

that sucks. roots rotted. guess the roots were too dense to properly dry out in the middle.

Sorry to hear about the troubles EnA. Still not a terrible looking plant though, looks like atleast 2-3 oz's maybe more. You did a great job keeping her alive the best you could :good:. It's hard to know what to do going into something that is a unknown realm. Good job too the others in the contest, plants are coming along nicely.

Update on my Dutch Passions Skunk #11. Day 7 of flowering on 10/14.

:bow:you need to pat yourself on the back twice. that's very impressive considering the root size. i bet it would do much better second time around from rooted clone. less time spent growing that big ass stalk and all those leaves. you could get in the guiness prolly with that little system.

How do you guys water? Seems like most are struggling with it. I am no expert but with roots as compact as these I would remove the plant from the pot and drop it in a bucket of water and feed for a hour or so.

exactly ......... the roots got so dense that a shot glass of water just sat on op of them instead of draining through. no nutes,no water no oxygen = dead plant. thinking about changing the mix and doing some modifications to the cup to stop that from happening again ......... i'm still several bowls away from any decisions  but i'm working on it

IMHO any plant that makes it all the way through in a yogurt cup is pretty impressive. the whole idea of growing like this is pretty fuckin crazy but that doesn't mean it's easy. kudos to all the guys who are still in the race!

i think clones are the way to get it done in this game. some more trial and error and the right girl are what i think is going to make project salma fly ...... if it can fly at all.

i tried that ........ you're right, it does work but the rule is the roots have to fit in the cup . trouble is the roots figure things out really fast and start expanding to the point that you can't get em back into the cup without compressing then enough to fuck them up a little ...... i'm not 100% sure if thats what started the root rot in one of the caramelos but it started a couple days after i started trying to soak the roots. i though about pruning the roots but after they start circling the cup you can't see what the hell is what or where they start and end. i didn't want to amputate something and leave it in the cup to start rotting and it ended up rotting anyway.

the whole dunking thing was only a way to try to save something that was crashing in my case so it might work if thats how you planned it from the start of the race:dunno: ..... just letting you know how it worked for me

If I had to take a guess I would IV drip line bag them similar to how they treat people in hospitals. One of my cats just got put down after 15 years but I kept her alive and well without pain for over a year by doing IV drip lines because of failing kidneys. This is what I plan to incorporate if my root system gets to dense. It slowly pumps water via a needle and the best part about it is they sell different size needles. For more water and better flow grab a 12 or 14 gauge needle, the higher the better for water flow. The IV lines that connect to the bags are quite long(3-5 foot)which makes it easier to use. Hope it helps someone.

yes it is.

are you running with the clear cups just like you see them in the first pic or are you covering/blacking out the roots when the girls aren't in front of the camera?

Since I think my usual led grown plants look better than this plants look, I decided to change the 150W HID to "120W" led panel + 2 x T5 floros on the sides. Plants recovered from the drought, buds seem to continue to grow and get more trichomes, smell is already intoxicating when I get near the plants. Le't's hope I can manage to keep them alive till they finish. Since I wasn't sure I can get them to this point when I started, I could say it's better than I expected it will be, for the small cups they are in.

Good luck to all the others that are still in the game! :tiphat:
