3/20/15 Update

3/20/15 Update

They have been mostly bottom fed MaxiBloom at 1.0 EC. At least once a day I water them with a lot of run off then change out the water in the saucers. I recently increased the EC when the lower leafs on B started to lighten. A is heavily pollinated and should yield some great seeds. B and C also got some but I wanted to have a good smoke report so I tried to minimize it.

A:

She smells like ripe honey dew melon and it's fucking amazing.

B:

Similar smells to A but not as sweet.

C:

She doesn't have any sweetness at all, it reminds me of the way Scott's OG smells.

The seed mama had a couple days where she smelled like sour apple jolly rancher yogurt, but then went back to the gross dairy odor so I'm not sure is they will do the same thing.
According to Sensi this is a 45-50 day veriety. I've had several cuts from the seed mother that seemed to just keep making white hairs even after 60 days or so. I've also tried it at 45 days and it still put me to bed, so I don't know exactly when I will harvest them yet.

Older updates:
U00 here / U04 here

U02 here / U06 here
U03 here

Nothing much happened since last week. They might be a bit overfeed so I will give them plain water for 2 consecutive waterings.

Good luck, brothers. Let's hope we all manage to finish the contest..

Later.edit:
So I finally found my vicegrips and I was able to test the BRIX levels of the yogurt cup plants. Both are between 11 and 12 %, so it's good. I'd say that means healthy plants.

Good luck with your plants! Take care of them.

Later.edit2:
Been asked about this by PM, so I took a pic of the tools I used for the sap Brix level reading.

(refractometer and modified vice grips)

And here is a thread on Icmag about this, if you want to read more:

See you guys at the next update.

here r mine but they aren't looking good atm. I don't know whats wrong with them. to me it looks like over watering.

i can't tell much from your pics but off the top i'd say they're seriously underwatered. that one on the top left side looks like you could empty the cup by blowing in there. it's important to keep the soil moist if you're doing any sort of dirt like media. all the bacteria that are breaking down the nutes and making em available for the plant live in the top couple of inches commonly called topsoil. as long as that part doesn't dry out to the points where the roots die you should be able to recover. once the roots start dying it's like a snowball rolling downhill. it makes it look like the plant is hungry, but in reality it's so dry that essentially you're giving toxic levels of food.

i think plain watering for a few days and not letting it get dry like that will recover your plants.

but that's just a guess from one picture. slowly soak em in plain water till they're saturated and then watch and water lightly to keep the top inch moist (drops of water) till the roots start growing again. looks like you're using clear containers like me. you should be able to see roots growing again when it's recovering. just keep em moist but not wet.

i'm going to pull 2 out of the 3 girls i've got running out of the race. they decided that they weren't going to stay in the cups and even though i tried to get things back under control it's looking like they aren't going to cooperate.

last week the roots finally got so dense that water wouldn't run through them anymore so i tried to modify the cups a little. i put more and larger drainage holes in and used clear plastic for the overflow ring hoping that the roots might get light pruned a little. the drain holes worked great for a whole 3 days before they got sealed with roots again and the clear plastic ring ....... well lets say the ladies don't just don't care about a little light on their roots

3/13/15

i didn't bother taking her out of the cup but here are the same roots 7 days later 3/21/15

they are watertight again, the plant seems to be pushing the root ball up and out of the cup, and the caramelo sisters are obviously not entirely happy with how they are being treated

at only 4 weeks in i just don't see this turning out well so i'm gonna pull these out of the race and pot up to some HUGE beer cups instead of killing them. i crashed em' but they don't have to burn

sorry I used voodoo on you E&A, it was desperation...and it backfired.

i'm throwing the towel in on my first entry. dead roots, she's going nowhere.

I still have the other two (although they aren't much better off), so ima finish them...pics later.

they're about done anyway.

 Dammit! i knew it wasn't my fault. it's all good trich! life is just a game of pins and dolls and i'm use the the porcupine/hedgehog look anyway. damn the torpedoes :ying:

E&A your plants are growing to big to fast dam it anyway ;)

yeah, i think mother nature is letting me know that there is only so much shit that she'll take on this one. all the timers and tech in the world won't trump what that lady brings to the table

Wow thats one hell of roots in this tiny cup, looks like compressed human hair! :biglaugh:

fixed it:) i think rapunzel got her hands on dad's rogaine!

i still have one girl left in the race

the cheese candy is root bound but water will still run through it so i have been able to keep her going. she doesn't look great but she seems to be happy enough to stay in the beer cup. next week i have to get her out of the room to get a better pic but she is 47"/120 tall and starting to bulk up. i hope i can get her to go another 5 weeks but i'm not gonna bet on it. the caramelo sisters were doing great until they weren't anymore and i don't think the cheese candy is going to be any different if she decides she's sick of playing

 come on homey, where's the love?

you just gotta be crazy enough to put a yogurt cup in front of a couple 1000w bulbs (more than one time)......... and an unreachable goal:tiphat: ........ and/or a jackass that gets to choose the carrot

if you think you can or you think you can't, you are usually right.

Here's the plant:

From above:

Still feeding once a day, best I can do. She drinks it up and would take more if
I could give it to her. Just like my wife.

Pics are deceiving, the plant is actually 10 feet tall, it's perspective
that throws everything off.

Eighths, like I wish I had your grow problems, lol.

Here's a close up, shows the potential of this cultivar given
more watts and and a large container:

I am flowering a sister cutting of the plant in this yogi demo in a 32 ounce
container, it has two tops and much bulk and cherry goodness.

Here's my Black Cream. It seems pretty solid, might pull about 5 grams from it, but we'll see. Definitely learned a lot from this, I think I might be able to grow healthy plants in yoghurt cups if I really put my mind into it.

Jesus Eighths!

Growing in these little cups is a challenge but you can learn a lot. Someone should try to figure out how to do a hydro setup and remove the medium to make room for more roots.

3/26/15 Update

3/26/15 Update

Things have gone downhill pretty fast for B but I think I got it taken care of. There was a brackish smell coming from the cups of B and C kind of like a dirty pond or something. I got a empty coffee can and just immersed the whole yogurt cups in 1.2 EC newts until the smell was gone. A got the same treatment even though she didn't have any odor in her cup. So I'm now smell free and hopefully B is on the road to recovery.

A,B,C:

I cut that lower leaf off of C after the pics, just keeping it real lol

I did get a new camera and taking pics is fun again so I may update more often. Who knows man, who knows.

i've been there and it was a bad sign of things to come. do the nutes still run through the cup when you feed or do they sit and take forever to soak in?

if you have some H2O2 you might want to start hitting the girls with that. it seems to help from from what i've seen but i haven't ever done a side by side. i use 1ml of 29% per liter of water

good luck!
