Just checked the plants today and it seems that the 2 topped plants will be females, and the 2 untopped plants will be males. Only sure about 1 male and 1 female till now, I'll know for sure on the other 2 plants till the weekend update. But I love it, cause the untopped plants already got to be too tall compared to the topped ones, so having the 2 plants that are more compact as females is great. Other than that, plants look happy. I'll stay with the 150W MH for now, if they get too stretchy I may have to change to 400W, but I think 150W is ok for now. Topped ones are under 35 cm height including the cups. And the bulb is in a cooltube so it stays very close to them.

14 days into 12/12 and all three of the ladies have shown me their girlie parts:woohoo: but i'm really hoping they get done stretching out pretty soon. i think i undergesstimated ...... the caramelo 2 and the cheese candy are at 36"/92 cm and the caramelo 1 is around 28"/72 cm

these pics suck BTW, the colors are all fucked up because of the light and i can't see the display on the camera while i'm taking the pics so it is mostly point-pray-push the button-hope for the best.

caramelo 1

cheese candy

caramelo 2

i'm already getting some yellowing on the bottom of both caramelos so i upped the N just a little bit ......... i just hope the cheese candy doesn't hate me for it

There's that nifty, little, and free program with a manual colour correction and an auto-correct option and a lot more useful things but without the requirement to be a rocket scientist (aka Photoshop): Irfan View!

Besides that, you've got three MONSTERS there in your cups... Sure they haven't rooted through the drip line directly into the rez on one side and down the sink into the sewer on the other?

IF i can keep them alive

they are getting fed every hour now. the roots are so packed in the cup they are almost watertight, the pump runs about 17 seconds and fills to the top of the overflow rings but it takes almost a minute for nutes to wander through the clusterfuck and start dripping out the bottom. in the last rounds that didn't happen until week 4-5 and i still have a long way to go

i also have a "blumat-esque" thing going on root wise. what tries to come out the bottom is getting light and air pruned like it always does so i'm good there, but the roots are saying fuck it and going the other direction. the whole cup on all three girls is turning into a "root knuckle" now. if the damn thing jumps out of the top of the cup does that disqualify me? because i can't think of any way to stop it without stressing plants that are already stressed the fuck out

i'm kinda committed at this point whatever happens, so i'll keep the pedal on the floor and try to keep it on the track.

is there a piss test when the race is over? i think i might come up positive for THC:tiphat:

 i wish i could explain to you how retarded i am camera/computer/tech wise. i have a grip on computer shit like cows understand a passing train:biggrin: you could give a chimp a typewriter but you ain't gonna get Tolstoy :) explaining the theory of relativity to my dog won't make her a rocket scientist :dance013:
are ya with me OO?

i'm computer stupid, fuckin' E-tarded

Don't think roots are gonna get out of the top of the cups. I was just looking today at my cups and there are roots in the top layer of perlite, but nothing above it.
I also identified the 2 of the that are females so I'll prepare my update.

Good luck keeping the plants alive.

UPDATE 05

UPDATE 05

Older updates:
U00 here / U04 here
U01 here
U02 here
U03 here

Here are the 2 females I have from the 4 plants I had:
Topped one (SWA_1):

Untopped one (SWA_3):

I tried to train this one a bit to have more light to the lower branches. I hope to manage to keep them alive till they finish flowering, I'm really interested in seeing how the topped vs. untopped will compare.

will it only be a matter of increasing the frequency of the watering ?

lol you will end up practically feeding them constantly. :peacock:

:dunno: i wish i knew the answer to that one

if that is all i have to do then with the cycle timers i should be OK. those things make it really easy to adjust intervals and volumes so it should all be simple enough if i stay on top of things

the only thing that worries me is that the roots have already gotten so dense that they are almost water tight which makes even feeding them a little bit of a challenge. i figure if root rot or some other nasty shit gets going in the root ball i won't be able to do a damn thing aside from sit and watch them crash, and i really don't want to do that.

i hope things work out like i want then to, but even if they do it's gonna be a long 8 weeks

tick tock

if the roots are so dense could you run an air stone and try something like dwc or something similar ?

interesting to see how it turns out :)

E&A - worried about root density? maybe just poke some holes halfway (or less) into the pot with a toothpick or something?

i've thought about that, but worry about actually cutting part if the root off with whatever i use and that setting off what i'm trying to prevent in the first place. kind of tough to make the call on this one just because i really have no idea if what i think is going to solve the problem actually causes one.

i thought about using a hypodermic needle and injecting water dosed with h2o2 into the root ball to try and keep things oxygenated but i'm not sure if that won't cause me problems either. for now things are working anyway so i could be over thinking the problem anyway ........ wouldn't be the first time i've done that, and in a way that's what got me here in the first place

i'm certainly open to opinions though because i'm sure there is some angle to this that i haven't considered

I would bottom feed... If she takes up so much. Or make a drip ring so you can thoroughly feed/water as much as needed with a cycle timer. I have my indigo on a recirculating dripper, my SHP is bottom fed due to being under more intense lighting. So far it's working

@dabking With the proper medium, I do think watering from below might work. My plants are bottom watered too, with a very fluffy mix. But I could have a problem if roots take all the cup space.. We'll see.
@E&A Once you solve this aeration problem I guess you need to propare for that moment when the stem thickness takes all the cup surface. :muahaha:

And here's my weekly update:
I'm now in 12/12 although several plants aren't tall enough but time's running faster than I'd like.
Got some issues with over-fertilisation; the Zamaldelica are quite tolerant, the hemp varieties not so much. Directly doubling the nuts wasn't the wisest idea...
