2 weeks Since Germination - Plants not looking good - HELP!!!

Hi All,

I'll give you a quick rundown of my setup . . .

Using a 250W air cooled light in a grow-tent thats approx 60cm by 60cm.
Groing Swiss Cheese and Mazar from Gypsy Nirvanas seed boutique.

They were germinated and popped on the 1st July and have been in small pots being watered every day. using tap water.
I used Plagron Light Mix soil as this was apparently ideal for seedlings and young, delicate plants.

In the past 3-4 days, I have seen massive leaf growth, but some of the leaves are lookng like they are turning brown at the tips and have gone hard. Funnily enough it seems to b the leaves at the bottom of the plant.

One of the Mazar's doesnt seem to have grown properyly at all and all the leaves are mal-formed and hard.

As its so early I wouldnt have thought it would be a nute problem and because of the lightmix soil wouldnt have thought it wud be nute burn.
The temp inside in the tent is quite low due to the air-cooled light so they wouldnt be getting burnt by the light

Does anyone have any suggestion - I'm really worried!!

Well, you did the right thing in starting with a light mix, but you missed your window with veg nutes. Once they start putting out 3-bladed leaves, they are ready for nutes. Its time to start your veg program, just don't try to overcompensate by adding too much.

The good news is that none of your plants look to be damaged to the point of being unsalvageable , but growth may be stunted a bit temporarily.

ah right - cheers weedninja.
I'll have a search on veg nute programs but dont suppose there's any recipe you could recommend off the cuff?

My grow style is so friggin' complicated that I would get carpal tunnel syndrome if I typed it out.
The basics are in my grow thread and I tweak it to each individual strain/plant. I think that we probably live in different countries, so we may have different nutes available, anyway.

I do recommend that you use nutes designed specifically for soil(not hydro) and if you use nutes that aren't designed for cannabis,(very few are) make sure that you use far less than the recommended dose.

One more tip: the word on the Mazar freebies is that they don't like as much water as other strains.

I'm having a similar problem, my babes leaves are turning yellow and brown and not looking good I have pictures in my album if anyone has any advice.

I looked at your pics, and I think I know what your problem is. Start a separate thread, fill out the questionnaire from Stitch's sticky, and we'll get you straightened out.

It looks like a mag or maybe cal issue, but we have to figure out if you're locked out or just deficient.

nice one weedninja.
Got hold of some general all-purpose plant fert which ive fed them with today.

Tmrw I'm going to repot them. I've got some Plagron BatMix which should perk them up a bit. I've heard the batmi can be a bit too much for young plants so will mix it in with the lightmix.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Weedninja - pure respect.
check out the ladies now. . . . .
Ended up repotting them with different proportions of batmix and lightmix to see for future reference which is the next combo. Its been 3 days since I did that and look how they've recovered.

Cheers man!

you have lime in that mix?

those top pictures look PH-ish to me, what's your PH on the feed water? runoff?

you may end up having the same problems in a while.

and that's mazar or mazar-i-shariff?

I have grown about 50 shariffs in the last year, and they are really bitchy about PH until you flower them

hi mexilandrace.
I just tested the soil ph levels on 2 of the pots and they came out between neutral and slightly alkaline.
its the shariff -what do they prefer?
Could the ph be causing the tips to go yellow like in the second pic above?
cheers!

Any tips for that strain? Got any journals / feeding advice? I saw the pic in your gallery.

they like nitrogen in veg, if they get dark green just chill out a bit.

the one that smells like lime lifesavers is my keeper pheno, the taste is identical to the smell.

I like to only hit them once hard in the first two weeks of flower with a strong flower dose, if you have room for the stretch you can also keep the nitrogen up a bit for the first couple weeks in flower.

I don't like topping them, though there may be phenos that respond well to it, I haven't seen them. If you go really light on the nutes in the last 3 weeks or so, you can bring out some really great colors, and the buds will go nearly black if the temps are low.

I make sure to put lime in their soil from the start, rather than top dress as I do other strains.

They really shine in flower though, power through PH issues and explode.

The lime pheno is pretty leafy, and the bud have a very unique structure, sadly I deleted all but those pics I uploaded to my gallery for a security concern, otherwise I could show you exactly what I mean by unique bud structure.

Also, if interested in breeding, they add some really nice traits to their crosses.

The only neative thing I have to say about them is that some of the phenos are really weak, to the point of not even oil will get you high, makes you really hungry though. I kept that one to use for med patients later who don't like the getting high part as much as they need to be able to eat.

they are good strong and forgiving plants, just bitchy about ph
