2 weeks left...spider mites!

H

Hal

Howdy,

Well, I have approximately 2 weeks left of flowering on the one plant I have left. Just noticed what seems to be spider mites....visual inspection revealed tiny white specs on upper side of leaf, looked under the leaf and saw a few black dots about the size of black pepper. Haven't seen any web material on the plant yet.

I guess the other thing it could be would be thrips, but I would have to guess at this point it is the spider mites.

Since I am so close to harvest, would it be a problem if I continued to monitor the mites to see if they begin to show more damage etc., and if not, not bother doing anything to combat the little suckers?

I'd try to wash/wipe as many off as possible. Clean them up as best as possible a week out, and hang a no pest strip. (doesnt work well for me always, but better than a spray at this point, in my humble opinion)

It was gross to have buds hanging and mites crawling up the stems, and on the pole they were hanging from. I actually wiped miticide where I was hanging them and when they bunched up at the top wiped em all off with a miticide-wet paper towel.

Basically you're playing damage control for a week without using chems on your plants.

Take one wiff of neem and for damn sure it's not going on my plants a week out!

Thanks, stretch.

Never smelled Neem, but it sounds like it must be unpleasant by your report.

Well I'll be dipt in shit!!!!

Just finishing my final run for the season (2-3 weeks left, maybe 8 for a couple of sats) and low and behold........My first infestation of spider mites!!:cuss: :badday:The first thing I will do is wet them down. I understand they hate moisture, then get a half dozen pest strips. The jury is still out on my next move but the little fuckers are everywhere :wallbash:

Yeah, I had them for the first time this latest harvest. Noticed them about two weeks out, and I felt devastated initially.

Lower the temps and crank the humidity I heard too, but not a viable solution in my situation.

No Pest strips worked better for me (in a 10x10 room, everything in a cab or a hut) if I put them on the backside of a circulating fan in the room itself. I suppose the air then going through the cab intakes was loaded with the poison, circulated around the plants, and then vented out.

It worked better than hanging them IN the cabs themselves. My assumptions are the Vortexs' pull too much air and the no pest strip didn't have a chance to circulate.

So I've had one hanging in my room since, and I've been using these two sprays mixing it up on my veggers and moms, and have not seen one since the initial outbreak.

changed my mind

changed my mind

worried about the mold thing so I just took the plunge :jawdrop: I sprayed em down with a coat of Schultzes fruit and veg insect spray. Primary active ingredient is canola oil which can't be too bad. There is another ingredient which supposedly has a very short life. I will wash them down afterwards and hope for the best. Sure glad its my last grow for a while. Infestation can be a bitch :badday:

Hang a couple Vapona No Pest Strips in your growroom and the mites are gone.Change them every four months or every couple batches.

The initial bloodbath is taking place as we speak

The initial bloodbath is taking place as we speak

That light spraying should kill most of em.I figure I'll follow up with a couple of those no pest strips and I'll hit em up with a couple of very light foliar feedings (Liquid Karma)for damage control followed by a couple of spray downs with distilled water. Thats my plan and I'm sticking to it.

Sorry to hear about them little bastards messing up your ladies man. Try some sm-90, its biodegradable so you dont have to worry about smoking it when harvested. Just let cure 1 month to make sure it all breaks down. Peace my friend

Hang the a couple no pest strips.

The key is making sure the ventilation is turned off!

Oscillating fans are ok, but the extraction fans need to be off for a period of time to give the NPS a chance to work.

Turn extraction off when the lights go out. Do it for a week and you should be good.

Yep at two weeks out anything sprayed on them besides water and you'll taste it in the final product. Misting water will keep em in check make sure you have ample dry time before lights out. Some plants will be worse than others so isolating those for heavier treatment helps too.
