2 400 watt hps or 600 watt hps

Guys what I wanted to get a 600 watt hps on a 15 amp circuit.but I was thinking about getting 2 400 watt hps light.does anyone have any feedback on how 400 watts yield? :tiphat:

600's put out great light per watt. 400's can perform great and can be closer to plants. With two 400W lamps you could run just one when they are smaller and spread them out and turn on the second when they get bigger.

A lot comes down to how you want to grow. They are both great options.

I like the versatility (either way get dimmable ballasts) of 2, bulbs. one bulb blue/white, one red. you don't say what your height restrictions are but when it gets possibly too hot, you can dim one or turn one off. OOOOOR! 2, 600 watt dimmables that can be dimmed to 400wx400w or any combination of wattages including 1200w when winter comes, for heat.

I would go with the 2-400's. Two source points of light are almost always better than one.

I have been running two 400Wfor years now. I have a floor to ceiling height of a bit over six feet (less than 2m). I run one, when they are in small containers and I'll run two with a 4 lamp 4' T5HO for side lighting. I have vegged 30 plants in 3 gallon bags and bloom 24 plants. Depending on strain I average 1kg/1kwatt.

I haven't run 600 - 1000w so I can't recommend but this is what I know with the 400W.

I use two 400 watts lamps. One is MH and the other is HPS. I like the combination that can adapt to shorter verses taller plants under a particular light. I also like the combination of using both for flower. My height is 6 ft. but using autos for the first time takes that issue away, they are all around 2 to 3 feet tall in 2 gallon pots.

600 watters have the most efficient power to out put ratio .
2 sources of light set so the foot prints overlap can cover a bigger area than the sum of the foot print of 2 separate lights .

The inverse square law tells me 2 600s is substantially more efficient than 1 1K .

Thanks for sharin
