1st indoor grow. NEED HELP! 4 plant ScrOG. Individual grow box cab. Need Input

Ok guys this is my first serious grow and i decided to choose indoor as my space

My i dea is to build a horizontal elevtated grow cab with four "cubbies" to grow four different strains individually in their own scrog. I want four different strains for variety.

I need input as far as choices of strains amd training yechniques. Nutrients, feeding schedule, tips on scrog method.Already lurkes threds for months so i know a good bit of info but now its time to post my idea to you guys here at icmag. Im not looking for a full tutorial just opinions.

I will post a model of my cab setup when i finish designing it on my computer

I plan on vegging them with 2' tube flouros and vegging with 100w hps each cab

24/7 for veg or 18/6?
Or shoudl i go led for flower?

i have so many questions but i cant ask em all gotta study for myself as well i have my work cut out for me.

First of all, welcome to the forum!

You did not mentioned size of the space you'll be using, don't forget to add those when you upload the cab design.

As far as vegging light schedule, I use 24/24 (24 out of 24 lights on) lighting because it's easier. I can work on my plants whenever I want or have some spare time. 20/24 (or 20/4 as some call it) or 18/24 (yeah..18/6) are also good. It's your choice I would say, I've seen great plants coming from all those 3 schedules.

I see you're talking about 100w hps in veg (I guess you wanted to say flower there), so it must be a small space.

Im sorry...musta forgot tht part last night. Its gonna be 8'w x 3' deep x 4'h standing on 3' legs to elevte ut. The 8' is gonna be divided by 4 individual cubbies at ~2'x2'x4' ech with its own cooling and exhaust setup. I wanna be able ro control temps in each box but i may add an AC window unit box with duct ran to certain ones in case i want to drop temps to get a little color in ny buds

I read a nice thread, I will have to try and find it again for a link, but they did some test with different times of light schedules. Their findings were that the 18/6 for veg produced the best results for overal growth and health of the plants. Then 12/12 of cource for flower, but they introduced a 48hr darkness period before first 12/12, this helped kick start the flowering cycle and reduce it by 7-10 days. Noticed faster production of petioles. Just some thoughts. I plan on trying this with my grow now.

Individual exhaust for each on, sounds like alot of work and energy running 4 different fans. Why not make baffels to each chamber and interconnect them. or use a dead space vent, where it vents from one chamber at the top with an air gap, that then feeds into the next at a lower point and so on.

I was gonna make a manifold for the exhaust ducts to all join to and one to split for the intake ducts as well.

Hopefully this spring as-long-as I have the funds, I am completely re-building my area from the ground up. Going to put a 4'x8' closet in my cave, specifically for my hobby. Separate heat/ac intake and exhaust. With a new tent.

I wish i had the room for that i would love a tent to grow in but alas im stuck using just the back area of a walk in closet so im making the most of my space

Welcome and good growing to you. Here are some of my thoughts on your grow (since you asked ) @ 4' your going to have to limit your plant size. Perhapes lurk in the micro grow area? With a 6"X2X2 pot the size of your cab (yes 6"X2'X2') and 1 foot overhead for lighting (Assuming led's to keep space and heat at a min) this leaves you with a plant aprox 2.5'. Quite small but doable. There is a great thread here on how to LST your plant (low stress traning). I do understand the want for multable strains. But if your looking at small yeilds because of small plants is it worth it?

Me personally would Scrog the whole thing with 1 type. This would give me enough to smoke untill the next crop is properly cured. It takes me about 2 months time from cut to smoke. I am sure others can and do it faster. But I want a smooth tasty smoke. I am willing to learn a better way to cure, but I havent found a better method than the one listed here on how to properly cure your meds.

So looking at the yield aspect. If you get a GREAT grow you can get maybe 10 to 14 oz per harvest (dry) Would this be enough for your consumption untill the next cure is complete?

Personally I would fill the whole thing up. maybe 30ish plants keep it trimmed for the one big bud only. Just my 2c I am sure that when the great growers here get a chance to help you there is likely to be better and differing points of how and what your grow should look like.

you got some great pointers from gruetoo, 4 strains at once would be harder than one or let's say two. also, leds would be great, but they'll need a bigger initial investment than hps.

how much would you need to harvest per cycle to sustain your smoking habits? I'm thinking you could run 2 cabs in that space (~200w leds or 250w hps per cab), and harvest every 2 months or so. With proper ventilation and good genetics 100 gr. per cab (with a 2 cab set-up) should be easy. that leaves you with around 50 gr. per month (and possibly more than that once you get some experience with your set-up), which should be enaugh for most smokers.

Ive decided to startingt my first indoor grow from a simpler approach to wet my feet with indoor growing.
I was shooting too high to start with but i will resume plans with the scrog after i have experiencr.

I decided to build a 4x4x6 cab and use my resources i readily have available to make a cfl grow. I have unlimited amount of fixtures and supplies to make a setup with all the wattage i may need.

I have about 200+ bagseed i wanna germinate to have sort of a random see what you get grow.

I kinda like the idea of getting surprised by what i may witness with the variety of seeds i know i have.

I was thinking more along the lines of germing enough to fill my cab with a sog using 2ltr bottles as pots and vegging them 10 days or 2 weeks maybe and 12/12 them.

Is this an easier approach to start with? Im excited to try this out and i could make it slowly inti a perpetual jarvest.

I would also not forget to sex them immediatwly after the flip and keel off the males may make a separate sealed male cab and try my hand at some explorative breeding with some strong looking females.

I could only imagine the things i could make from those seeds.

What di you guys here at icmag think bout my new plan?

Any ideas or opinions that would help optimize my grow?

Sooo,many views but no one has anything to say im about to strt building my new cab design next week. Ive drawn up a lighting fixture design i want to share with all of you my next post.

One sugestion i give everyone to help optimize their grow is to NEVER use mystery bag seed. You might end up with something to smoke but chances are good you wont even want to.
Im just guessing but 200 seeds?... sounds like mexi schwag to me. Use seeds that are selectivly bred, they will have a better viggor, taste, potency and yeald.
Oh, and I too am a cab grower. same exact size as you with 600w. Try to stick with 60% indica or more or come stretch you'll be working overtime to keep your plants off the light.

I'm sorry but I agree use all the space you have and do a sog. That way your messing with smaller plants and no guess work with feedings or variables with different needs. I love super silver haze and am so happy with its yeilds. Have you thought of going with a hydo setup? 8x3x4 ft high. Tight but do able. I would look at 6inch pots.you could fit about 5 plants deep x 14 plants wide.lolipoping would be a must but man it would be a sight.
