1st DSLR- Canon T2i how do these pics look

I just got this camera Wednesday and have been playing with it a little bit. Here's a few pics of Mosca's C99 BX1 that will get chopped this week due to having to leave the country. They were done in auto. I haven't really even tried with manual settings yet but I've got a week in the tropics coming up to experiment.

word of advice, don't shoot in auto. . .shoot in av or manual. Don't shoot in jpeg. . . shoot in raw and learn how to use camera raw in cs5. You'll be able to get so much more out of your pictures. Your pics look good though.

420 congrats buddy they look good. 1st pic..I wouldn't change much, you might have cropped the top half of the cola to zoom in a bit more. Second image, shows the grow well, good lighting and composition. I like to remove distracting things from my pix before shooting, like those red things. I also like a good background, but those things are not always possible when shooting grow images. I'll move a cola to an area where I have filtered natural sunlight, then use some sort of background.

I shoot most all of my hand held shots in my grow in auto with a Canon 50D. Almost all of images I have here at IC were all shot as max JPEGS not RAW. I shoot RAW only for my publishers and if
I intend to make prints of the images.

Boris has a point, sorta, you can make more adjustments in post processing with RAW. I post process very little, In Photoshop I crop, re-size to a 12 x 12 x 72dpi pic, sharpen 65%, auto levels, then save for web, which reduces the quality even more. I like pix that load faster and peeps here still seem to appreciate them. Good luck, looking forward to seeing more, you'll have fun...DD

Just about any serious digital photographer would agree that by shooting in Jpeg you are simply limiting the potential of your photos. And honestly how hard is it to batch process and covert your raw files to Jpeg (not very). As for shooting in green box mode you gotta be kidding me doobie duck. My point is that I wouldn't advise a just starting out dslr photographer to shoot as he would a point a shoot. Thats just my

the trick when taking pic's is not to have anything in the centre,always have it to one side.
your photo of the buds should be shot or cropped so the first bud is on the left of the screen,hope i explained that ok

You're getting at "the rule of thirds"
