Hello,

I have a 1m x 1m x 2m grow tent and a 1000w HPS Phantom digital Ballast which is dimmable to 60% 75% 100% My question is will this 1000w HPS be too much for the plants in this grow area? Some people say it will bleach the plants I have not grown anything in this setup and want to see if anyone has had success with this setup or should i get a lower grade HPS like 600w

sorry but i'm a newbiee with all this stuff so if i dim down to 60% it is equal to 600w? and i'm guess 75% is 750w is this correct?

Close enough. A 1m tent is just over 10 sq. ft. so that's 60w/ sq. ft.

That seems to be near the point of diminished returns & is in line with what large grows use.

Dial in your temperature control before introducing plants.

Yes correct just take 1000 w if you have issues with bleach or heat dimdown to 750w or 600w. Bulb may not least longer but this is all.

Yes, for 1m square, 1000w is ideal, but if need be to control temps you can take it down to 750w or 600w. Good luck. -granger

Thanks everyone for the feed back, i'm feeling confident about my setup just got to get the ventilation in check....

The real question here is, do you need a carbon filter inside to scrub? If so, I don't see how you'll fit everything inside the tent. If you put the filter outside, you may be able to keep the light at the highest spot in the tent and dim it down and be ok.

It's pretty easy to keep a scrubber inside of the tent and still have the bulb fairly high up.. Besides he could just LST the plants if they get waaay to tall.

Either way - most reflectors are not really square - so using a part of a side for a cylindrical filter and hosing isn't a big issue - It's just fine for me and I run a 120x60 tent!

Good luck!

Nah carbon filter needed, i live in a house and the tent is in it's own room that no one enters but me.
