1kw HPS didn't fire...

Was sitting around yesterday afternoon looking forward to the brightest part of my day..the high-point of my day if you will...When my 1kw HPS comes on and I can check my 5x5 tent full of sour bubble and northern berry.

I went in about 5 minutes after lights were, checked to make sure the power on indicator lights on my phantom ballast were on, opened up the tent, and was surprised to see no light on. It only came on after I turned off the power strip that powers everything and turned it back on.

Its a new bulb, been functioning flawlessly for the past week.

Any thoughts on why this happened??

Check to make sure your bulb is screwed in right, and make sure all your cord connections seem to be ok. Is there a reset button or fuse on your ballast? Check it if there is...

mine acts funny if i spin the dial after it's lit, so it turns off and then turns back on...i had to reset my timer last week and it took me almost an hour of plugging and unplugging and screwing in backup bulbs, then it all the sudden fired up and has been working fine ever since, it has a soft start and i think i pissed it off. check and see if there is a fuse, mine uses little bus fuzes right by where the power cord goes in...are you sure the bulb is ok? maybe try switching the bulbs around and checking what happens?

I have a lumatek 600 that will turn itself off after a random amount of time from minutes to hours, except when I send it in to the shop to be tested. I've run it with different bulbs, reflectors and from different outlets and it's the only one of mine that does this or has ever done it. They won't trade me a good one since they 'can't replicate the flaw'. Meh.
