19'x8'x8' bloom room setup help

I'm pretty much done putting my room together and I'm looking for suggestions on layout. This is what I'm shooting for:

6 - 3'x6' ebb & flow tables with three against 19' wall leaving a 2' walkway.

What i'm having a hard time deciding on is to go with 12 - 600s so each table gets two or 8 - 1000s so there is one light every 4.5'.

I was also considering doing 12 - 600s with 6 ballasts and a flip/flop but i'm worried about splitting up the ventilation for the two sides.

600w digitals are $319 from hidhut for a ballast, bulb, and aircooled reflector whereas i can get the lumatek 1000s for $359 only the ballast. The 12 600s are cheaper than 8 1000s and will run 800w less power for pretty much the same light.

What do you guys think?

A friend has a room that's 18 x 8 x 6 and there are 8 3 x 3 tables and 8 600's and it works awesome . Create 2 sets of 4 trays and put them against the wall. This will leave a walkway the length of the room and 3 walkways the width of the room at each end and in the middle. Put 2 x 2 posts at the corners of each table floor to ceiling except against the wall where the trays butt up against. Put up hooks for trellis netting around the room and train the plants into the last half of the aisle space against the wall of each aisle. This will give you and extra trays worth of growth without actually having the equipment.

The 600watts and the 1000 watts,if 600w are cheaper to run and give you a better output all around I would go with 4 or 6 600 watt lights with digitals ballest.Lower heat factor with the 600w and digitals ballest.

Since you are growing hydro and the plants probably wont exceed 3 ft,I'd go with 600's.Plants 48 inches or larger when flowered need 1K lamps

As for the setup I mentioned the ballasts are digital Lumatek's and run on 240. There is a reduction in electrical usage with these for sure.

i think i'm going with 5 - 600s per side which will give me one light every 3.6' and that works out to 55.55 w/sq ft. is that enough or shoulg i go with the full 6/side . i'm debating to just stick with the 4 -1000s since hanging lights will be easier and honestly i may just stick with magnetic ballasts to save money initially. the idea of making space for 12 ballasts and running all the wiring seems like crazy..

Now your talkin my language,I only halfheartedly support the 600s lol go with 1K magnetic and use hortilux to flower, you cant go wrong no matter what size plants your flowering.

Whatever you do will work. I've used 1000's and now go with 600's. They're much more efficient, light produced for energy consumed, and you get better light distribution. I can't say enough good things about my friends 8 x 600 setup. I've seen Lumatek 600 ballasts for $180 online and my friends have been rock solid without any problems. If you go with a 2' center aisle the 600's will cover the two grow rows just about perfectly. I don't mind spending a little more time and money to set things up because it always seems to work out better in the long run.

BTW - Seems like people have much more problems with the Hidhut ballasts than Lumateks.

no, get the 600s.
get the digitals, cough up the cash. it will be worth it. longer bulb life, less heat (less AC and FANS needed -- more power savings). NO NOISE from digitals.

I have been growing 3 yrs, i have seen amazing shit from digitals and i am running magnetic. my friends 600w digitals yeild better than mine, every damn time... and he sucks at growing. pisses me off. :(

Hey Bob...chill...no confronting going on. When I was in dirt I was using the 1000's. I LOVED 'em at the time...just awesome. I got a buddy that's gonna replace his switchable 1000's with 600 digitals and I will take his old equipment, put them on light movers and buzz the tops of some strong sativa leaning or pure sativa strains...:headbange for sure.

Just saw Dedhed's post...if you're goin 600's get Hydrofarm's new Daystar AC hoods with the hinged glass lens...I picked one up at the local store for $125 with the cord (ready to plug into a Lumatek), light socket and glass lens. They now run the cord through the top of the hood and not through the duct adapter. So with the hinged lens you have perfect a perfect seal...they rock!

I will post the shots in a few hours, right now there is just one table with all the vegging clones under a 1000w hps. Within 1-1.5 weeks everything should be running with all the lights and tables. I'm starting out with a staggered run so i can pull each month, so it will be about a month before all 4 tables are full.

Remember electricity is measured for billing in "watts" not "amps", ie; kw=kilowatt. You will not see a noticable difference in the bill with 240v, it will allow you to use a lower rated wire (less $$)for extensive set-ups or long runs this can factor in. The amperage drops to about 50% of 120 but not the watts. Now there is a slight reduction in usage with digital but I like the reduction in heat and smoother wave (cleaner light) rather than the bill aspect. but only in 600's, digital 1k's seem to still be a work in progress.

When I moved into the new house I went from coil ballast 1000's to digital 600's and was pretty surprised with the difference in the electrical bill. I attribute most of that to the change to digitals and also 600's are more efficient, from what I've learned, than 1000's. Crop quality and yield has def improved. I'm no electrician but was always under the impression that equipment running on 230 is more efficient, only slightly though, than on 115. I thought it was something like <10%??? Maybe this has to do with lower current draw and less loss through line resistance???
