16' Towable trailer! Sealed, all the bells and whistles

Hey icmag.

Will be growing at a friends house (rent free!)

Buying a trailer soon for the towable grow room. Slightly more expensive than a permanent structure, but it's not my house, and if it needs to be moved for any reason, with a moments notice, it can be moved.

Trailer is 7' wide x 7' tall, 16' in length. Will be building a wall to split the enclosed trailer into two rooms. Main flower room (sealed) will be 7x14, and the entrance room (electrical room) will only be 7x2.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You enter the trailer through the side door, turn a small light on, close the door behind you. You are in a small room (2 feet wide) that houses the sub panel, all the ballasts, possibly even the ac's condenser unit. There is a door to the main flower room (sealed).

Since I only have 7' of vertical room and 7' of horizontal room, I'm going with 600w bulbs so I have less penetrating depth to worry about as well as sticking to an easy 3x3 canopy.

You open the door, there is a 1' walkway through the middle of the flower room, with 4 600w bulbs on either side. Dual 3x6 trays on both sides of the room will give me two 3'x12' canopies to work with.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Along with a co2 generator (propane burner style), there will be a dehuey and a 24k btu mini split plugged into the environmental controller. Circulation fans will be mounted to the walls.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been a while since I have had an indoor op running (outdoor last few seasons has been A++) so I have just some general concerns I would like some advice with.

1. Enclosed trailers are generally not well insulated at all. I plan to glue 4'x8' sheets of 1" thick reflective foam board from Home Depot to the plywood sheeting on the inside, and then tape it off for a full seal. Not positive how well this will help to keep the trailer insulated.

My only real concern is keeping the temperature in the right zone. Where the trailer is to be parked, average night time lows for the next 5 months are in the low to mid 40s. I will run my lights at night time, 4800w of bare bulbs. Will the flower room maintain proper temperature with 4800w of bare bulbs and the 2 ton mini split? I dont want to chance any temperature swings, whether they be high or low. I do not expect the trailer to be insulated very well, so the cold night air should help cool the trailer slightly. Could I, or SHOULD I, get an AC thats smaller than 24k btu?

I might be able to add an additional 1200w, making it 6000w total. Maybe a better bet to go with the 24k btu?

There used to be a thread on trailer grow rooms & I remember that A LOT of them were stolen so I`d take some real good security measures so it don`t get towed . And what about odour control ?

Lucky for me, the trailer will be parked in a large fenced backyard, with no views from the street. Also, 3 wolves and a chihuahua and an akita patrol the yard. And a full security/camera system. Odor is not an issue here neither. This house is 100% secure, wouldn't do it otherwise.

Only thing that really worries me is not being able to maintain proper conditions with bare bulbs in a sealed room.

The nug shot is some of my organic outdoor from this last season. Trainwreck x Thai x Sour D. No nutrients added, simple water only soil mix.

I'll be growing the same strain indoors as its INCREDIBLE and I have a few seasons under the belt with it.

Sounds like fun!

Put a gps locator in the frame. There a many options, some that are tirggered vibrationally.

I would insulate more than 1", I dont know what your budget is like but you might consider having it sprayfoamed.

Also a 1' walkway is too cramped for me. try setting up a mock layout and move around make sure you arent gonna snap any precious future colas.

Mechanic creepers are good to move around with. ;)

You could set up a 2k flower (7x10) with a 1k veg (7x4) and have a nice perpetual goin, exchange air between the two and use less cooling overall.

Check out gavitas..

your gonna have to have vented air cooled lights. I grow in containers out in the yard, heat is a big issue.

Love the GPS frame idea. Would like to know more about the spray foam?

While a 1' walkway IS very narrow, I'm a really lanky fellow and I'm used to working in small places. I don't plan to really need to be in the room very much anyways, it's just about all automated except for pruning/training.

I really want to cram as much light in here as I can. I have a veg room already, so I'd like to utilize this entirely for flowering.

I would go with Gavitas, but their 600w bulbs aren't the dual ended ones everybody raves about. When I get a chance to fill up a garage, I will definitely use the Gavita1000, but in a short (7ft) trailer, there's just not enough vertical room for the Gavitas.

Hey! Really appreciate your insight. Can I pick your brain really quickly? What kind of containers are you running? The 40ft 8x8s? Do you air cool them? Do you run your lights at night? What size AC do you use? Do you use supplemental co2?

I REALY want to stay away from air cooling the lights. I'd MUCH rather get a bigger ac and run bare bulbs with no glass, for efficiency sake. From what I've read, air cooling reduces the amount of light getting to your plants by as much as 25%. Also, with co2 supplementation, plants thrive in temperatures up to 85 degrees F. I feel a max temp of 85 with co2 and a top of the line 24k-36k btu minisplit AC shouldddd be achievable running only 4800w at night time.

I agree on the open hood. You will need the added heat to keep that AC running full time to keep your RH in check. If you cool your lights you are likely going to be adding a lot of heat back with a large dehumidifier. The same is true if you oversize your AC too much. Make sure to size it right.

No I grow in salvaged military field containers, largest is 11' x 8' x 6.5' for flower, and I have 2 about half that size for my veg rooms.

Yall boys are crazy growing your dope plants in a trailer, your gonna have some real big problems if Mr. Lahey finds out your growing dope in the park, and then you're going to have real big problems, what are ya' gonna do then? It's not like you can just drive it out of the park....................

This was actually my first sealed room, shlt was legit, so stealth from the outside even when..... errrrr, running? A/C hot side stuck into a room behind the cab that housed ballasts and electrical. Ballas room had it's own intake ports leading to the cab which had ill ports from the factory, the ballast room had a t-stat and fan speed controller (variac would have been nicer for stealth) that kept it below 85-90* via the factory exhaust fan on top (you seem 'em on most campers, they move a fuck-ton of air on full blast, almost impossible to open the cab doors if all vents shut and fan on full blast).

Unfortunatly I lost the rest of the pics, it wasn't being used to it's full potential, I made the ballast room a bit bigger than nescassary and I could have used 2X the floor space but was limited on power there. Next one is going to be way bigger, mobile grow rooms are where it's at, but I'm back inside for now.......

Oh and as far as security in terms of getting into it without the keys, good luck. That thing was fort fucking knox, way harder to break into either room doors than a house of any sorts. The door from cab was armored truck style, and the back door was like a commercial building door, perfect for wedging a 2x4 in there.

Ah, one more thing that is a big plus vs a trailer- it came insulated, actually had a camper plug and some wiring as well. Just had to black out glass from the inside and sandwich insulation between it and some plywood. Touch up loose ends with gorilla tape and spray foam insulation

The floor wasn't insulated though, and the r-board got nasty at the end of course, should ideally have pond liner over the r-board.

REALLY sorry to hijack your thread man!
