I finally fired up my 150w hps after getting it all wired up, and it comes on for a couple minutes then goes off for a minute, then comes back on again. It just keeps going on and off like this. I tried it with 2 different bulbs and it does the same thing. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hello Sandman. You helped me in my last thread.

This is how its wired.

As far as I know, both the bulbs are brand new. Unless Businesslights is selling people used products.

Thanks for the input, thorodee and rasta.

yeah, I got both bulbs and the ballast kit from the same source. Thanks for the link, but I already checked it. All I got from it was that the ignitor has to be within 2 feet of the bulb. I didnt think it should matter, as people remote their ballasts all the time, but I tried shortening the cord anyway and it still cycled on and off. I dont have a voltmeter so I cant check the line voltage or anything.

I think I may have already exceeded the time limit to return the stuff too. :frown:

Might try sending the company you bought it from a friendly email explaining the situation with the troubleshooting that you've done already...they might be willing to take care of it for ya. If not, I'd try to find a friend with a volt meter to check the outputs or see if your local automotive store has some that they'll loan out with a deposit.

I would bet money it is the bulbs. :joint:

If it lights then goes out, it is not the ignitor. HPS bulbs usually cycle at end of life.
