hey guys, has anyone tried using the 150w hps system from htg supply? im not too sure if i can post the link because it might be against the rules but im wondering if the light/reflector would be big enough to put inside of a fridge, and having some room for the plants to grow. my fridges dimensions are 34x19x19. thanks for the help guys much appreciated

nolimit, I have no idea what the dims are on the reflector. I'd get it anyway, even if you have to customize or do w/o the reflector altogether. It's a great deal for a solid looking lamp, IMO.

oops sorry about that haha, the dimensiosn for the reflector are 16" long x 13" wide x 6" deep. the thing is im not too sure if the reflector would come off. but yeah the lamp does look awesome.

You can do pretty much anything you want with the reflector but it sounds like it'll fit pretty good. In fact, I think HTG offers several options on the working end of the rig.

I don't want to twist your arm but you've got a square footprint. By ditching the reflector you could hang the bulb vertical and puts plants all the way around.

Either way, it sounds like you've chosen a good foundation for your grow. Best wishes with the setup.

Get them buds closer to the light fellas. With a 100cfm fan on a bare 150w my plants grow happily till about a 1/2'' from the bulb. Air exchange in cab is 8 times per minute.

Thanks for the visual, catman. You're really getting all the bulb can throw like that.I'm able to gets plants much closer than this but the screen hits the fan if I go any closer.

The tops will stretch much closer to the bulb and I may even have to lower the screen. Problem is, the fan is high velocity and will be blowing straight at the tops. It's only 70mm so maybe it's not enough to hurt? I thought about relocating the fan but practically any place I put it the plant will get direct air.

It's a multi-voltage fan, 5v/12v. I might could just slow it down. The fan has the typical red and black wires AND a yellow wire. Is yellow +5v or do I just connect a 5v transformer the same way I connect a 12v (with red/black)?

I guess I could mount the fan to blow against the wall and the plant would get indirect circulation. Anybody care to advise?

Is it a molex connector?

If so then the Red and Yellow are both positive and blacks ground. If it is a 3pin CPU fan then the yellow is for a RPM sensor.

I think they'll like the breeze.

Thanks, catman. It's a 3 pin mb connector so I guess it's a speed sensor. I may just leave things the way they are and see how it goes. It blows on the heat spot pretty good.

Just snuck a few before lights on. I been puffing on the BG sativa pheno all day and I enjoy not having the indica hang over.

Here she is.

My clones for the my next run have just began rooting after being in a bubble cloner for about 2 weeks. I have two 5-15 each running a 10'' air stone I got from wally world. I haven't changed the water, but I've topped it off every other day. Things will probably get shaken up a bit as I'll be testing out a new strain as soon as it gets here.

finally someones growing circular with a 150hps

looks amazing. great grow, i wish u a happy harvest.:tumbleweed:

nice to see someone not have their bulb a inch away from all of there one plant and actually maximize the power of a 150 to a certain extent, i think we use micro bulbs but no reason for the micro mentality, a 150 will veg about 5ft by 3.5 wide all day, and in a vertical circular position will do about 3.5ft by 3.5ft, if u got the space use it-

Yo, Disco, I have to ask!

Is that a MEAT THEROMETER in your cab?

LOL.

I can read the headlines, "Hillshire farms headquarters secretly readies itself for the transition to the canna-business boom fostered by new wave of legalization legislature".

I'll take mine medium-rare, please.

Actually, it looks like a standard industrial thermo, but I could be wrong.

grumblez and Pd, you're both right.:D It's an indy that looks like a meat probe. I'm not sure it's accurate the way the light shines on it. I put a digi in the shade and average both, lol.

And now for something completely different:

Has anyone in here made beans under their 150?

Please discuss.

:)

I am pondering the feasibility of making seeds based upon shelling out a few hundred USD in the procurement of some stock.

I am sure everyone who buys seeds has to consider this...anyone have any advice? I might be up for trying to make some beans from SSSDH and reservoir seed stock I am anticipating in the mail any day now...

grumblez, do you already have a "keeper" expression of the strain you wish to pollinate? If so, making seeds is easy. Males have to stay in 12/12 long enough for flowers to mature (usually two weeks.) Separate male plant(s) from the female(s) before they release. You won't need very much pollen so a cutting in a glass of water will work. Once the male flower starts to release (w/o controlling the photo period,) it will continue for several days and up to a week. This will provide enough pollen for hundreds of seeds. Allow the pollen to collect on a piece of dark paper underneath the plant/cutting. Scrape it up with a card and apply with an artist's brush. Seeds will need as little as 5 weeks to mature and as much as 6 so it's best to knock up your bitches in the 3rd week, 2nd if it's an early harvest variety.

The old fashioned way will likely produce more expressions in the event you haven't isolated the one you want. Leave a releasing male in flower with females for a few days (depending on how aggressive the release is.) Each female will likely carry unique expressions and will be reflected in their respective offspring. It will require more work because you'll have to weed out the lesser favorite expressions. Favorite expressions will have to be worked further to isolate and regularly repeat the characteristics you want.

Alrighty then. Thanks as always, Disco. You are the man (one of them at least). I caught you over in the dutchgrown seeds threads - I see you nailed a test-grower spot! Right on!

I am guessing that the 150 is fine enough for the seed generation bit. Save males, keep pollen. Dig out small paint brushes from dungeons and dragons days. Be careful not to ruin your sensimilla.

That is my current checklist.

I popped 5 more beans from the 'bay onto my germination plate. I took ones from the breeders pack since I like surprises. Not a bad way to start my second grow -- 4/6 seeds germinated from the first wave of PPP and Nepals Snow...5 more random seeds are just getting moist...that is the summary of the new genetics coming into the mix this week.

I also have my revegging citrus-sativa-girl from bagseed in the 24/7 light space. This is my "keeper". I plan on getting a tent for mothers/bubble cloner this week (one of the 4' high by 28" wide ones) and she will be the first to go in it. While I enjoy the Indica pheno I grew, I would not consider it a keeper. Most likely it will be chopped after this current grow. Not sure how keeping mothers go, but I will try to keep 4 -5 of strains I enjoy the most to take cuttings from in a perpetual setup. Once I get my genes in place I will occasionally add new stuff to the mix based on reviews and then determine if I should knock a weak link out of my mother tent to keep the mix fresh.

This is where the beans question came from. I figure that when I buy seeds and pop 3-4 out of 10 (and bank the rest for posterity's sake) I will get at least one male. Collecting the pollen will be essential in making seeds in the event I wish to discontinue a strain but not take the genetics out of my possession entirely.

I might make my first run of the sssdh and rez strains an open pollination so it is not an issue. I just have to yield well enough NOW to hold me over for TWO grow periods....one to make the beans and the other to make sensimilla from those new beans (or clones from the moms). SO MUCH WORK....LOL.

Hardy har har...I was gonna take the day off from smoking but got squashed from some kief I screened...lol...whooooooooooooooooo boy!

My gasoline smelling indica clone is all set to go on her second night of flowering...I set the light cycle to be reversed so the nights do not get too cold (7pm to 7am light).

Hopefully she finishes as fast as the first batch did (about 50 days flowering). I am excited to see the way the clone has branched out. The leaves are WAY less pronounced than when started from seed (smaller) but the plant in general has bushed out like crazy with three main branches off of the stem of the clone.

roger-dodger.

over and out!
