150w Econolight?

Ive read many posts about econolights, and I want to pick up a 150w from them. Ive read prices on the 150w being $25-$35 shipped. The cheapest one I can find is more like $55 shipped. I know thats still not breaking the bank, but Im wondering if Im not finding the cheaper light, or if prices have just gone up since those posts were made? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks :joint:

They stopped stocking the cheap ones a while back. If you check the dates on the posts, you'll see how far back they go.
~$50 is about the cheapest anywhere

And one other thing - you'll want to verify this yourself, of course - but I seem to recall that the 85w models were lumen per watt the most efficient and have fewer heat issues: the 150 base & bulb can get pretty hot. If this is true, then maybe two 85's is the way to go (@ about $20 apiece... 15 more watts for less money, although not sure if the Econolights have this pricing. There are Eiko 5000K, 6500K, and 2700K models available on Amazon though.)

They dropped the $25 "vapor tights" but they got some 150w HPSs for $42. Still the cheapest you can find I think.

check these similar lights out, too

Hydrofarm CFL
Wobble CFL
GrowKing CFL
AgroLamp CFL
EcoPlus CFL
Fluorex CFL
Envirolight CFL

keep in mind the higher the wattage, the wider and longer the lamp...
one 300w (actual) has a 6 inch radius and almost 14 inches long...like a 2 liter bottle of coke
so if you're doing a micro or cab with little space, you may want to go with a few lower wattage lamps
