125W CFL to 600W MH - DROOPING

P

polzek

In short, switched 3wk old seedlings from 125W CFL to 600W MH.

On the second day plants are drooping as if overwatered. Thick and droopy leaves.

Temps: 78F day / 63F night, rH 40-50%.

When growing under CFL temps were 78F day / 70F night, rH 40-50%.

Growing in Party cups, organic soil with perlite, mulched with pine bark, watered before switching the lights with 1/10th of cup size.

No signs of deficiency, healthy green but drooping.

My question: can plants droop due to light change or is the problem something else?

ps: i did search the forums, didn't find anything conclusive

Eternal gratitude to any helpers out there!

Hell yes that big light will wilt the plants. Back the lights way up away from the seedlings because the higher light exposure will cause them to wilt. Pull the 600 about 3ft to 5ft away at first. When the plants start growing tall and lanky then lower the light a couple of inches at a time, until you get to about 24 inches away from the plant. To be honest that is too much light for seedling period but people do it all the time. Good lUCK

I already have the light 3ft away, will try moving it further.

my rH could also be a problem, it's now staying between 35-40% . Would raising it to 60% help with the droopiness ?

I hope we all understood each other, the plants aren't wilting as if underwatered, they're drooping as if overwatered.

Thank you I'mback & Creeperpark
