120v or 240v

i do not understand electricity as well as i should. im looking to buy a 400w lumatek ballast but i don't know whether i am supposed to buy the 120v or 240v. can someone please explain how i would know?

Hey wavedash, if you have 120v outlets and want to use those buy the 120v, if you live in the states the standard outlet is 120v, if you live in europe you may have 240v.
So basically if you live in the states and want to use a regular outlet buy the 120v.
A 400w light uses more amps at 120v than at 240v, but a 400w light and a few fans for your room will be no problem on a 15 amp 120v circuit, have a good one and be safe.

They both use same amps 240v is only devided into two lines.
