12 Year Old Seeds Germinated

Got 50% of my 12 year old seeds (made in 2010) to germinate. Seeds were stored inside the refrigerator in sealed glass jars with white rice as desiccant. Used the wet paper towel method in a ziplock and placed on the edge of gas stove for additional warmth. 1st seed cracked in 36 hours and others in 48 hours. Cracked seeds and the remaining uncracked ones were then placed in soil starter pots. Day 4 and 5/10 have broken the surface showing their 1st set of leaves. We'll see if anymore come up.

Never cracked seeds this old before.

Yea I was surprised at how well old seed sprouted when stored in the Icebox in rice. I have sprouted some 15-year-old White Widow and some 12-year-old Blue Indicas. Now I'm running some newer seed that's just a couple of years old. Still vaping on the WW and the Blue Indica plants too. I'm glad I saved the seed now. I have a bunch more to still to work with. Thanks for posting.😎

Germination Update:
All seeds germinated and broke the surface. Unfortunately, 2 succumbed to what appears to be damping off disease. Seedlings toppled over halfway up the stem and died. Net viability was 80%
