12' x 12' Perpetual Grow Room Set Up!

Hi all!

Ive decided to turn my spare room into a perpetual grow room. Ive been growing in soil for a little over 3 years and would want to get this grow room started in soil as well so im not trying to dile in a hydroponic set up AND the bigger grow room, but i would be willing to hear out all opinions on mediums and systems

Im very familiar with cloning so having a mother plant is def. going to happen. Going to have her under a dimmable 250w MH in a 3'x3' tent. I have fem seeds from last season(Aurora Indica, Lemon Skunk, Chronic Thunder) so my mothers will be from seed.

As far as lighting as of now i have a 400w dimmable (MH&HPS) and 2x 250w lumatek w/super lumens (MH&HPS). So, obviously not enough lighting to get the kind of harvests im looking for. Im willing to get 3 or 4 600w's or 2 1000w's in this room. Leaning more towards the 600w. More coverage since i can move them, more lumens per wattage, and a little more heat control. Might keep the 400w to veg, 600 seems like over kill unless you have a bigger quantity in veg IMO.

i have an attic i will be exhausting to but im not to certain on were the intake will be. I have a window available but wouldnt want nosy neighbors.Maybe you guys can chime in on that. Im not too familiar with fans, scrubbers, or air cooled lighting. (Heat or smell was never enough of an issue)

Ive done research the last couple of weeks and will continue to, and yes i have read the thread titled "HARVEST A POUND EVERY THREE WEEKS!". I noticed that was a common direction most pointed at in other threads. Even so, his grow is specific to his capabilities and limitations and I wouldnt want to make limitations where not needed.I have read over and over that design is based on a lot of things. I would want to aim for a pound a month. If you guys think i can do more then even better. Im willing to take my time and put in the man hours to make this possible. I enjoy growing more than i should

So now i ask you guys. Any ideas on the kind of set up i would need to at least get this started? I dont have huge stacks of cash to spend. Im your average guy who works a mon-fri with about $1000 month left over to spend on this.

Though I've given most info i can think of off the top of my head, if I left anything out or you guys have questions, by all means ask.

I've always been a big fan of vertical grows whether it's doughnuts, stadium-style, or vertical sea of green (SOG). When running vertical you maximize the use of your light and you don't have to buy any hoods for your lights. I'm a stadium-style fan (Google Northernfarmer stadium for more insight). I also grow using 2.5 gallon hempy buckets (hempy style has always been my favorite since it's simple, clean, you can flush easily if you screw up, and bugs do not like it so much.

Just my $0.02.

A couple of 600w HPS cooltubes would probably work out really nice for you. 600w hps is most efficient and cost effective. Attach a carbon filter to an inline fan and blow thru the cooltubes and into your attic. 6" or 8" duct would be good. Make sure there is "make up air" coming from another room or a cracked window etc... otherwise the fan/fiter/cooltube combo won't work. Keep the air moving thru that room and keep cloning and flowering. Use the tents and/or closets for vegetative growth and clones. Best of luck my friend.

Make a plan too.... figure out how many weeks to finish your strain... ie 9 weeks and right in the middle of that.. ie 4 weeks 4 days roughly make sure you have some more plants veg'd to start flowering as well. Then your on your way to harvest every 4wks about. Just make sure you always have a supply of healthy clones to choose from. It can be hard when you have lots of good bud to smoke all the time. Keep it simple.

Hey input,

First let my clarify- I'm no master grower.

But, I think I can help with your ventilation question. Basically, for a room your size, you will want 3 inline fans (I personally like hyper fan the most). One to air cool your lights (that should be connected with insulated ducting), one for intake, and one for exhaust. This ensures good air exchange and will replenish grow room CO2. I'd use 450cfm, 750cfm, and 1000 cfm, respectively. If you have unsuspecting visitors/neighbors you'll want to definitely invest in a quality phresh carbon filter.

Note on intake- I don't think it's the best idea to intake from outdoors. You definitely don't want hot intake, and cold air intake (depending where you live) might shock plants. You can draw air in from a neighboring (lung) room inside. Try to filter that air either with a phresh intake filter or at least a bug screen. The exhaust is usually blown outdoors.

Hope this helps.
