the stuff is gooey... wonder if it would survive rainfall?

My Granddad used to swallow a dessert spoonful of Vicks every morning. He was a tough old guy, still had a six pack in his seventies. I doubt the Vick and the six pack are related, but you never know.

You can make paper water resistant with Vicks. Get a big bowl of really hot water, and drop in a big dollop of Vicks, like you would do if you were going to put a towel over your head to inhale the fumes. Once all the Vicks has dissolved, throw in paper. Remove the paper and allow to dry. the paper becomes like that wierd paper they make the tickets for the water slides from at some Swimming pools. Don't ask me how I discovered this, I was off my face at the time. I have no idea why I was putting paper in a bowl full of hot Vicks water, I just remember that it works. Apparently, I invent things when I'm really fucked up.
Why you would want Menthol, water resistant paper, is for you to work out, because I sure as fuck can't.

right, it says not to on the jar but i'm living proof that it can be used that way and it worked everytime,way better than salt water or chloroseptic. that being said my kids would die before eating any

Vicks (Its camphor content) has been known to cause convulsions and seizures in small children, hence it not being recommended for use on babies or infants under the age of two because of the sensitivity of their still developing respiratory system, and of course their habit of jamming everything in their mouths, thus likely increasing their chances of poisoning.
Admittedly the amount of said ingredient in Vicks (4.8%) is quite minimal, so an adult would probably have to ingest quite an amount in order to suffer a severe case of toxicity....but still, i think i will pass on chowing down on it the next time i have a sore throat or a cough.

Name: Camphor.
Toxicity: 5 (5-50 mg/kg)
Form: Used in moth-damage preventives, camphor oil is a respiratory aid and a stimulant.
Effects and symptoms: Early symptoms include headache, sensation of warmth, excitement, nausea and vomiting. There is a camphor odor on the breath, the skin becomes clammy, and the face alternates between being flushed and pale. Symptoms include burning in the mouth and throat, epigastric pain, thirst, feelings of tension, dizziness, irrational behavior, unconsciousness, rigidity, rapid pulse, slow respiration, twitching of facial muscles, muscle spasms, generalized convulsions and circulatory collapse. Convulsions occur by stimulating the cerebral cortex cells. Autopsy findings include congestion, edematous changes in the intestinal tract and destruction of the kidneys and brain.
Reaction time: Fifteen minutes to one hour. Absorbtion through the mucous membranes occurs rapidly. Toxic levels may be achieved after prolonged vapor inhalation and within a few minutes after ingestion.
Antidotes and treatment: Gastric lavage and administration of activated charcoal. Vomiting is not induced since it might cause seizures. Valium is given for agitation and convulsions and hemodialysis is sometimes done to help with the elimination of the drug.
