its usually a sign of 2 things, genetics and maturity...generally this will happen more often with sativas

hemp has also been known for this trait being more consistant, but im sure you know if you got hemp or not which im sure you dont, lol

i've seen pictures of plants with ridiculous amounts of leaves, like 15 or 17...i think it mostly has to do with the size of the plant, i flower mine at clone and never really go above 7 blades, though i don't really check, those same clones outdoors (c99)are pumping out 11 bladers maybe even 13's, though i kinda feel like i would have noticed that...i would think maybe this explains why hemp may be known to have these commonly (wasn't aware, though i deal with a LOT of hemp, as evidence by my outdoor thread!). hemp gets retarded huge, i have pictures of of a 12-14 foot tall plant with a 2-3 inch thick, solid wood stem, i would be incredibly surprised if any plant that's 10+ feet tall doesn't have 11 bladed leaves...

i'm sure you are right about the sativa thing, i have a really indica skunk that makes small, very wide leaves and honestly id be surprised to see it happen on something like that, it's kinda funny to look at cause every single set of leaves is the same size as all the others, 4-5 inches across and only 5 blades...but I've seen big ol' lui's from back in the og days that had them...just being a sativa makes it more possible, thinner blades and large leaves...i remember pics of some huge sativa bushes in Australia, with huge dinner plate leaves, blades thin as a pencil, must have been mostly 11's and 13's...

actually, went back and looked at a few pics of the hemp monster and suprisingly i can't see anything above 5 blades despite being the biggest plant ive probably ever seen...kinda messes with my theory...well maybe it had bigger sun leaves and they are hard to see cause the thing is at like week 4 of budding...oh well see for yourself...

it's kinda like where's waldo, except it's, find the highest blade count leaf in the tree...

Ive had some 11 and 13 blades before. Maturity and genetics play a major part but it is normally just a sign of a very happy plant.

There are hemp patches in Nebraska and Missouri where I've seen 17 and 19 leaf fans.Like a big palmetto

When my leaves have 12 fingers or more is that just part of the genetics or is that a sign of a happy plant?

I had an 11 finger fan leaf once and I saved it in a book you can also get wax paper sandwhich it in between, and place the wax paper with the leaf in it on a towel, Then place another towel ontop. Get your clothes iron heat it up and you can seal that bitch up and have a permanent memory of her, Or you can get picture frame and cut the wax paper to size and put it in the frame and hang it on the wall like art of nature. I did it in elementary school in science class with fall leaves. Pretty cool, and a nice convo piece when your fellow bong pirates visit for a spell.

Peace:tiphat:
