12/12 from seed,DrBudGreengenes type grow

Just starting a 12/12 from seed.
Using 10x23 watt 2700K CFL's in a 2x2x3 cabinet.
Using Earth Juice amazon bloom for soil (I added 1 cup of Azomite, 1 gal.of washed coco and 25% by volume of perlite )
Earth Juice Sweet and heavy fertilizer for half the plants and JR Peters Variegated Violet 5-50-18 for the other half as a comparison grow.
seeds that popped are 6 Kali Mist from serious seeds 6 out of 10. And 12 seeds from seedbay grown by S_a_H called Catalayst x Vitality and 12 from S_a_H called Vanilluna x Kalimist x Kalimist x FLO, I had 100% germination on S_A_H seeds .
I will be growing these in 16oz soda bottles that I have read about from DrBudGreengenes.
I guess that it is time to transplant them from the root riot plugs and the jiffy cubes because the roots are starting to poke out of them. This is my first grow since growing outdoors 100 miles below the arctic circle in 1973.

No better way to start a grow then getting 100% germ rates unless of course you get 110% and get a twin...lol

Once again goodluck and we'll be watching.

S_a_H

I did get a twin on one of the the Catalyst x Vitalitys but i snipped it off when I transplanted it. I noticed on one of the seeds when it cracked it appeared to have two curly tap roots so I am assuming it was the twin. I guess they have twins?
Will try and post some pictures tomorrow. I need to redo the air venting in the morning to try and keep the temps in the 70's

Thanks DevilWeedSeeds. I did step them all up. I carefully cut the netting away from the jiffy cubes without damaging any roots. I have read pro and con about leaving the netting but I figure if the roots can move as freely as possible without any restrictions I might as well remove it.
I do like how the root riot cubes worked though so I will probably use them in the future.

Hey there Quinn, although being out of the game for a while you sound like you know what you're doing and have hit the ground running.

Haven't heard of the strains you're using so will be interesting to watch. Especially in 16 oz bottles.

Happy growing!

P59 is right. I've noticed that people lurk for such a period that they do come out of their shell as smart people who are well educated, just shy maybe.

Thank you Penguin59. I was originally interested in the Kali Mist as my main grow and purchased seeds. Then I came across this post.
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=228293 by S_a_H and the more I read I knew I had to try them.
All of the Catalayst x Vitality and the Vanilluna x kalimist x kalimist x flo are nearly twice as big as the kali mist seedlings. Very happy with how it is starting out.

Thank you Mr Akaline but it is all just book learning so far, no hands on experience. I do love the internet though, it is sort of like having the Library of Congress in your own house.

I swapped out 4 of my overhead 26watt 1600 lumen for 8 19 watt at 1300 lumen using splitters. I gained about 4000 lumen and used abut 50 more watts. This gives me around 21,000 lumen.
The heat is around 80 with lights on and 75 or less when dark.

I sprayed one tray with spray n grow and will watch for any difference in growth in the next week or so between the 2 trays.
Back in the late 80's I had 400 tomato plants growing and I sprayed 100 of them twice with spray n grow. Same types of tomatoes and fertilizering and watering schedual. The plants with spray n grow were at least a foot taller and the tomatoes were much bigger.
I was always skeptical of crap like that when you see it in adds but it sold me so I want to see how it does on this grow.

I have grown out 400 tomato plants at one time myself on a Hydroponic farm in the Midwest and it was a learning curve on many levels.

Yes S_a_H I enjoyed growing the tomatoes. 3gal. pot with bottom cut out,put around the plant growing in the soil. Pot then filled with compost so tomatoe could grow extra roots.Black polly pipe laid over the pots with drip emiters dripping into the pot. 1tbs.of peters fertilizer every week. Wooden frame work built around area to pull plastic cover over in case of cold weather. Plants were about 4-5ft. tall by mid december when we got a cold front that dropped the temp. to 1 degree above zero wind chill. Lost every plant after all that hard work done by myself alone. That was the end of my gardening for along time.

Thank you spiralofeyes. Do you think I should move this to the Grow Diaries? I do not know if this belongs here.

I don't understand the budgreen method.
...?is there a layer of perlite at the bottom of the soda bottles.?

And,

Do you have a full red stem yet on one, or 'some'?
I'm really interested to see how all this grows out.

The small bottle method seems very intriguing, and inspirational so far.

Thx again 4 giving S_a_H seeds a-go. !!!! :woohoo:.

I'd get it moved to the DJ sub personallyif your gonna have it moved that is. Most of the folks that would be interested in these strains hang around there.
They look good by the way. Cant wait until the flowers start popping.

I've been contemplating a dr. bud type set-up. I have a ton of seeds I want to run,a veg space that leaves much to be desired, expensive electricity,a fetish for variety and a short attention span:biggrin:
Seems like the doc's method of submersion watering would be excellent with coco too. Lots of oxygen with each watering and not much chance of salt build-up....

Hey mate, if you want to move your thread elsewhere I'd move it to the "Grow Diaries", "DJ" or even "Micro Growers" forums.

It doesn't really matter at the end of the day though. Move it if you're wanting to reach a particular crowd.
