buiding first 10 buckets was a learning experience. multiple trips to stores for different things. Hoping to finish the rest today and let them dry and leak test them 10 at a time since room is not ready. Still need to finalize room dimensions and placement of lights.

buckets almost done, lease approved. My question is whats the best room size for 10 DE lights?
If I follow the info here I'm thinking of doing 2 rows of light and get a room that is 22'x7'4" any better ideas?

I guess I'll be the first to chime in.. what's your location like , designated building or a house or what? Didn't see what you had planned for environmental controls?

designated building for location I plan on DIY carbon filter on exhaust and the room will be sealed except for intake and exhaust ports allowing me to control temps by moving more air. I'll also have an exhaust fan to aid in temp control but plan on maintaining positive pressure. I'll have air circulating fans above and below the canopy. I'm also going to order a mister/fogger to keep humidity where I'm copying what I saw in the coco tree grow see link in first post.

room dimensions from my reading are going to be 22'x8'x12'(subject to change)
lights will be hung 2 rows of 4 lights. Space between the rows will be 1.26m=4.13' and 1.74m =5.70' between the lights.

2x4x12 studs spaced 18" on center
thinking of running 2x2x8 across the top just not sure I trust them to hold my weight.

If my understanding of the ventilation sticky is right I need a fan with 528cfm and plan on putting one on both intake and exhaust. any recommendations which fans to get?

I think you have more variables going on than you expect. 10 lights and equipment your looking at 40-50,000 btu's of heat and one little 500cfm fan is not gonna even come close to cooling that. Grows of this size you should have professional quality environmental control. You'll probably want to run that space sealed with a 4 ton mini split and dehumidification. Otherwise you need to recycle that room every couple minutes to even have a prayer of keeping cool. Then if it's hot in the summer you'll never hit target temps.

I'm hoping to control temps with 2 intake and one exhaust fan with a humidifier . I'll add second exhaust fan if needed. I'll do my best to keep temp/RH within the specs on the VPD chart, see link in first post.

the cost of this build is getting out of hand. I'm not going with the 2" board but the cheapest version i can get. I've order the intake/exhaust fans, circulation fans are super expensive but i'm still looking. I only have couple more buckets to finish. I'm moving into space in a week and need to decide best layout and where to put control pane., buckets, res and how I'm going to route pipes. Going to put contractor plastic on floor to guard against flooding

Hey buddy,
I'm following on the same path as you, build out and such, looking to dial in the vpd. 1 per light, coco multi feed, using outside air to cool with positive pressure and fogger. Keep me updated on your environment if you will. I'm planning to push massive ammounts of cold dry outside air into the room. I'm concerned about the fogger keeping up and considering a lung room for fogger and outside air to blend. Any 2 cents from anybody greatly appreciated.

alotawatah I plan on keeping good records to help with future decisions. I spent sunday framing. Man its way harder than it looks. All of the posts I've seen on here of people putting up rooms my size and they do 2 of them in what seems like a day.

final room dimension are 19'4"x10'x11' I have 2 rows of 5 lights that are about 2' away from walls and 46" between the lights and 5' between the rows. I got a brand new entry door from homedepot for under $40 on sale pretty heavy but it was weather sealed and all I had to do was hang it.

I'm thinking of going with maxibloom for my nutrients, lucus formula 7g per gallon. Its simple and cheap. From what I'm reading many say that the most important thing is dialing in your enviornment and any nutrient will do. I want my grows to be as simple as possible. ideally they will run them selves with very little intervention needed. But for that to happen I'm going to have to monitor and track the data. Which lead me to Arduino.

I've started playing around with arduino and reading what I can about it. Many here claim they are using it but don't share the code when requested. After playing around with the mega and just the one sensor and the coding I had to do in order to understand how it was working, I kind of see why. Most of the coding I did was mostly print statements of what I understood was happening in code found on the net. Hopefully by second grow I will have the res level controlled by arduino and air temperture, humidity, and res water temperture monitored and logged in a mysql database the arduino sensors will populate the db. I'll code the data from the vpd chart and the temps logged by the arduino sensors to see the best way to keep the temp/humidity where its best. I'll need to know how many minutes it takes for temps to raise and lower per minute and also how long my fogger takes to raise humidity, how long fans have to run to lower the humidity.

I'm planning on installing security cameras and using zoneminder. more research on that to come.

Maxibloom for the win! True enough, that's the last thing to be concerned about.

Room size has so many considerations, but 10 de in 2 rows of 5 should cover a 25 × 10 room(some would say 30×10)you might be able to maximize efficiency with only 8 lights in you're final room. I have a 24×36 to work with, but I might split it to for climate control advantages. Those high ceilings will serve you well with De's backed way off, you will get hard nugs deep into you're canopy, so don't trim to much sub canopy with those, because they have a deep "light band."

Cold canna made a good point, we both will need massive ventilation, the safe way is to have 2 times the volume of your room moving per minute(which also naturally optimizes co2), you can just turn your fans down until your temps are in range(and add co2 accordingly). That's a shit load of fan power and I'm curious how much is really needed, as well as how to humidify effectiveley. Also, thinking about a lung room, as opposed to bringing such shockingly cold air directly in.

Arduino is way over my head right now, but right on, lead the way.

What strains/plant count per light are you planning. I have the ac/de air cooled, I'm thinking about pulling the glass off. Construction work sucks, but better to do it yourself than add exposure.

Intakes can also easily be added if you make pallet deck floor+they are a second layer of flood protection and can be gotten for free if you know where to look and got a drill.
