106F!!! a/c shutdown cuz rez filled w/ H20

I

irie-i

the fuckin' ferry didnt run last night so i was stranded on an island. i got back this morning and discovered that while the lights were on the a/c turned off because the external resevoir (its a sears 12k btu portable dual hose) filled with water. i dont know where the hell all this water came from. i checked the res a couple of days ago and it was empty. so the temp got up to 106 F...the ladies look fine though.
ahh the pitfalls of sealed room technology

Better fab a drain on that fuggin piece o'shit. The down falls of portable a/c, I prefer window units mounted through the wall. Maybe you can fab a sump pump in there some how. You also may want to find a way to have your hid lights cut off in extreme temps with a fluoro cutting on so the cycle doesn't get all screwed up. Good luck!

i will now.. thats for sure, it never collected that much water, or any water for that matter!

thats a great idea.

i realize window unit is better but i cant do it, nobody has a/c where i live, it would give me away

Man I've played with some double pole double throw relays while setting up my grow. If you have any questions or need any ideas bro, I'd be glad to confuse you I mean help in any way I could. :)
Seriously, those things can get confusing but once you understand how they work it's a piece of cake with canna butter frosting on top.
I wonder if there's a recipe for cannabutter frosting? Humm
The thing I found with dpdt relays is generally they aren't meant for high amperage HID type use where contactors as they are called stand up to high amp HID loads consistant with HID lighting.
I use a 30 or 40 amp contactor that is triggered by a timer to power on the light, mover, fans and any other thing that needs to power up at lights on/off. I wired a series of outlets that run off the contactor so when it is triggered by the timer it all powers on.
Good luck, send a PM if your in a hurry for some help as I forget to check back often especially with the weekend here. Will be smoking many bong hits.
I wish you much luck.
Peace

I don't want to confuse you. A thermostat controlled relay could flip between your hid lights and some flouro's so your light cycle doesn't get out of whack or just run them all with the hid's being controlled by the thermostat. Just ideas.
Peace

mm hmmm... i really like the ideas... i thought you meant thermostat contrlled relays but wasnt sure

i am thinking perhaps most of the light can be on the realy and just one or two not..they are all 600w's and aircooled, so one or two on would allow the room to cool.

irie-i, I was thinking about the heater thermostats that are sold with the baseboard heaters at lows/hd. They energize the heater till a certain temp is reached then cut the power till things get cool again. They are fairly cheap and would be simple to wire in. You could possibly run one or two ballast off a thermo that would cut the ballast off if temps exceeded the temp setting on the thermo. They are capable of running 1500 watt heaters so a ballast should be compatable. Good luck. Being its mostly just you and I in here, Thanks for the rep points.
