1000's or 600's

ok thinking of setting up some new 4/8 tables SOG ebb&flo in the past i've used 2 600s on a light rail but was thinking :rasta: 2 1000s or 3 600s need some input and where can i get a flip switch to run 2 rooms 24 12 hours each
thanks stoney

I run 4 x 8 SOG e&F tables myself so I can probably help. If you have tha cash go with 3-4 600's. When I first started this setup I was using 2 1000's per 4 x 8 and it worked well enough but the plants had a bit of wave to them from the variation in light intensity. A light mover would help with that a little (not personally a huge fan of movers) Then I switched to 4 600's per table, small wattage increase, huge coverage and yield increase.

4 600s what kinda weight are you getting i have the cash flow and want to do it right the first time so any help would be great i'll probly have a few ? like how long you veg for in the past i veg for 2 weeks befor going in to flower but a friend says he's been just leaving them in his 120 cloner for 4weeks and feeding them a little bit of nutes after 2weeks then into flower where i put on a 4/8 table for 2weeks to veg

4/600's used the most efficiantly way would be over a 6'x6' up to 7'x7', like growers in the old HT mags used to do with 4/1000's over a 10'x10'

I just had a 1000w ballast short out. I opened it up and found the wires were crispy and wire nuts were melted. Ive never had any problems with 600 or 400. Just for peace of mind Im switching to 600 digital lumatek for reliability. If I want the same density in my buds Ill just use the dual 600 ballast per 4X4 tray. Its more efficient and less wattage means less heat with higher light intesity so you can get them closer to the canopy especially if you air cool.

go with the 3 600's. 2 1000's would be less efficient then 3 600's. BUT I would go with 4 600's if you can get the extra money. Like masterlow said.

In anycase the 3 600's would give you better coverage then th 2 1000's. And about the same lumen output at less power consumption.

3 600's you probably wouldnt need the mover.

Also, in the future if one lamp goes down, you will get by far better then if you lost one of the 1000's. Untill the situation was take care of.

Just some 2 cents thrown out. best of luck...

Darth, I just had a lumatek 600 go on me. I was setting up a new electronic timer, the timer energizes a contact relay to run 4 600's @ 240v. The timer came half unplugged accidently, then i pushed it in ,The contact went on - offf - on within a second. Blew one of the lumateks.

Im sure it could have happened to any digi ballast, that quick of power fluctuation is no good. so everyone, NOTE TAKEN.

Ive worked with digital greenhouse, galaxy, and lumaace , and another, i forget.

By far the lumateks have been quiter, cooler, & seems to be of higher quality & constructed better

Ya know Lumatec has a new dual 600w ballast out now.
With the digital, you have to let it cool down completely after a shut off before restarting to keep from blowing it.
The 600's would be a tad cheaper to run and alot easier to cool. The 1k's can def throw off some heat.

I personally would use 600's over 1000's for sure. 600wt. lights have a high PAR output, that is equal or even better than 1000's depending on the quality of the 600 wt. light (reflector/ballast & bulb) used. They can produce just as high a yield as 1000 wt. lights as long as you have enough watts per sq. ft.
The reason I prefer 600's is the quality of the finished bud. I always end up with buds that are much frostier. Nice sticky resin covered buds.
Where as with the 1000's, they have a much higher tendency to burn much more of the crystals off the buds due to the intensity of heat and light on the plants.

I always stick with the 600 watters. I actually love the 430wt. lights too. The stickiest, most resin covered buds Ive ever grown were under 430's. They were oozing resin like Id never seen.

Just my opinion,

Weight depends on the strain. Averaging .42-.90 oz per plant depending on strain (4 plants psf). I run my clones in my cloner for about 4 weeks as well and then into flower. When I put them into flower I cut all the lower nodes off the plants and just leave the top one (this forces them to grow a single cola) Here is what the look like the day they go into flower:

what would be good to strart the clones on once they root i use advanced 3 part pretty much have the whole line hgrozym instead of sisizym i try to use the caculater cut in 1/2 on everything else

most my clones are well rooted at the 2 week mark. Once this happens I put a 250mh over the cloner and add my veg nutes to 200ppm (I use the Fox Farm line). Every 4-5 days I increase the ppm about 50 (a little more or less depending on what the clones look like) By the time I transplant they are up to about 350 ppm ph 5.6-5.8. I also use hygrozyme 6ml/gal at all times in my cloner
