1000 WATT VEG and 2000 WATT Flower

I was just thinking, How do you produce 2k watts of plants without drawing attention to myself. Is it possible to grow enough plants under 1000 watts of MH and then when its flower take those plants and put them into 2 grow tents. And flip flop the HPS lights. Run 1 HPS for 12 hours in 1 grow tent and then power that one down and turn the other one on in the other tent and run that one for 12. Therefore I am not pulling 2k watts of light at the same time during flower and producing 2x the heat buildup. So the real question is this

Can I veg enough plants under 1k MH to fill up 2 grow tents for flower?

And do you think flip flopping the lights is possible during flower if I am running 2 HPS lights.........?

ya thats the point of the flipflop is so u can run 2 rooms off 1 ballast. at different times 1 flower room during day 1 flowre room during night.. so the 1 ballast will be running for 24 hours a day instead of 12 on 12 off. u got the right idea.

Ok GREAT TopShelf! My question is this, Can I veg enough plants under just 1 -1000 watt MH to fill up 2- 1000K HPS? I don't want to use 2,000 watts MH AND 2,000 watts HPS. I want to run my grow using just 1000 watts 24/7 for the veg and then 2 separate flower tents running flip flop cycles with the HPS. I want to do it this way to cut down on power consumption during flower but grow more plants. Your thoughts on this?

easilly. i like my veg wattage to be atleast 25 percent of flowering wattage

Ok so with 1000 watts of MH for the seedling/veg stage I could say grow 16 plants for the first 2-3 weeks then transplant into bigger containers and immediately move 8 into one grow tent and 8 into another in lets say 3 gallon pots. Then flip flop the ballast to power 12 hours and 12 hours with the HPS. That dosent sound so complicated. Here is another question.

Instead of buying a 2nd grow tent, grow light, inline fan and carbon filter. Could I bulld some sort of platform with wheels and move the plants in and out of the grow tent when there light cycle is over? Move the plants that are in the dark cycle into a homemade wooden light deprived chamber with ventilation? Let me know what you think!

moving plants is a hassle but can be done.

What do you think the home made dark cycle chamber would have to have at a minimum? Fans to move the air inside the chamber, A inline fan to replenish air inside the chamber and a carbon filter?

I agree 25% is a good starting point, I wouldn't go lower than that and I think above 50% is a waste.

Personally, I like to give a little more veg time after a transplant. Usually the plants stall for a bit after a transplant and I like to wait until I see growth happening again for a couple days (min) before flipping to 12/12. That's just me though.

As for moving the plants in and out every 12 hours.... I'd say serious PITA. Now you'll have two times a day you have to be there, at your grow, ready to go. Every single day, period. Bad idea.

Besides, what exactly are you trying to save with that plan? The cost of one bulb and reflector? You'll need it filtered either way, and really you could have the fan pull from both tents (or a tent and a "homemade wooden light deprived chamber" lol) and push through one filter. Don't over complicate it. Building a box and a platform to shuffle your plants around twice a day and all that is just silly.

Ok thanks for the input Qupee. So what should I do then? Have 2 seperate grow tents fully functioning. Kind of expensive for just flower i would think...

Do you hand carry each one inside? I thought with some type of platform with wheels it wouldn't be so bad moving mine to a tent or something like a couple feet away.

I am mainly just trying to be money smart when it comes to flowering. If i can save money by not having to have 2 fully operational tents then it would be great.

i like vegging under the watts per square foot of your flower room, i think it is one of the secrets of the guys who grow monster plants fast.

for me, my plants go into a rdwc system, get 1k's dialed back to 600 until roots into water, then they get a few days at 750, then full blast full flower wattage for a few weeks then flower.

plus the higher the watts per square foot the branchier the plants.

from this

to this in 3 weeks.

my 2 copper clad coins....

Thats some amazing growth in 3 weeks!

Does anyone else have any ideas on how I can flower 2 separate groups of plants in a flipflop 12 cycle without having to run two fully equipped grow tents?

Well, like I said, use one fan pulling from both tents and pushing into one filter. That way they don't have to be "fully equipped".

And really I guess I don't know what to tell you if you think the $500 or so you'll spend on a tent and equipment is worth more than the time your going to spend every single day moving plants. Not to mention the time and money you'll spend building your light deprived box and platforms on wheels - a roll of panda poly and a handful of casters is halfway to the price of a tent you realize. Or the utter inability to be away from your grow at two times every single day. Who would want that attachment when only a few hundred bucks would free you up?

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but it's laughable in the sense that's its the epitome of false savings. If you simply can't bring another $500 to bear than do a run with just one space and then add the 2nd tent. imho

Of course, I may be biased. I used to run 4 tents.

qupee, I have no problem with you being honest with me. And you are right. What's a little bit of extra cash to save myself from being chained to the house. I got what your saying. I haven't added up the exact price yet, but between equipment and beans I am already
3 to 5 thousand into it. I will see what I come up with. I over extended myself on the up front costs of making sure I was well prepared for this new hobby. I guess I can chill out and save up more money instead of trying to run a flipflop with 2 tents. Not to mention I actually sat down and researched the Electricity prices where I am moving, and that shit is out of control. I will post my results shortly.

I certainly know how it goes dumping boat loads of money into equipment to start up a room, and was being totally honest when I say if the extra few hundred is too much I'd just wait through a run and then upgrade.

Thanks brother. I posted a new thread on what I calculated my electricity cost to be where I am moving. Its not great. Take a look and let me know what you think.
