I say go for the 1k as long as you can keep it cool...I have mine covering a 4x4 area and the nugs are extremely dense...I would think you wouldnt get as nice nugs with the 400's.

Depending on how you grow, but I would go with the 1000 watt. The light penetration is awesome. Now, if your grow using lst, scrog or sog, maybe the two 400's since you will not have to penetrate more then 2 feet max.

I would probably go with a single 600W over 2*400? Not much less lumens but quite a bit less watts. 3*4 would be an excellent area for a single 600 W light.
If watts aren't a problem for security issues then a 1000W if you can keep the place cool. I'm sure that even with greatly diminished returns because of the area size it would be worth the extra money spent on electricity.

I would go with 1000 watt if you have very good ventilation adn can keep the temps between 70 and 80 degree, if not go with a 600 watt but always watch the temps

Im running 2 400's in a 3x4 1HPS 1 MH Im going with a 1000 asap.
The 400's do a great job but a single 1000 will simplify things a bit.
