i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the use of a 10,000k compact floro(pl-l) for an upcoming micro build. how would the plant react to a 10.000k lamp in veg and in flower. i would use them in combination with 2700-3000k floros.....any thoughts?

Kelvin describes temperature, like Celsius and Fahrenheit. Your post makes me wonder what you really mean, perhaps lumens?

The 10K is going to promote short bushy growth. I've wanted to do this myself and would be interested in seeing the results. :D

It won't hurt, if that's what you're looking for. :)

thanks for your quick responses Lux and Hydro :)...yeah Hydro i was thinking that too and was wondering if i might be right. i was also wondering how the resin potency and count would be like if flowered under them too. do you have any knowledge of this bro?

They seem to work great :D My reason for adding it in flower was that they would have more UV but I'm not sure that's the case. But hey, I did ok with it.

I'll be using one soon in veg but alas, I only have the one pl-l bulb. I used a 10kk T-8 among others and that too worked fine. I couldn't really tell any distinguishing effects due to the mix, but what Hydro said is why I used it for veg.

The most important thing is that they look pretty in the cab :eyelash:

Oh damn...I didn't realize you were using em in your cab Ninja and that was an impressive grow too brudda! You and SuperPedro are the reason I why I am getting pl-l for my micro......thx for your input as well, its much appreciated :joint:

Thank you too, mate. That makes me so proud :)

Are you proficient at reading spectral output charts? If not, and if you have the choice of several types, and if you can find them, it may be helpful to post the SPDs up and let some experts choose. Mine was just a random crappy one though. "Catalina" brand, and it was mixed with Philips 4000k's. Peace.

I have grown with both 10k halide and fluoros because of my coral reef tanks, I always had those lights on hand.

As far as advatages go, they keep the plants very bushy, increase resin production, and make the plants more viewable (better CRI)

The main disadvantage is that that 10k spectrum is expensive and less lumens per watt than lower spectrums.

Overall I have been very happy with the final product with the higher kelvin lighting, I say go for it, you will like the results.

I've read some info that 10-15k actinic blue HIDs used at the right time stimulate resin production in flower, but.. well an old school grower friend of mine said "there's just something extra to the high.. a bit more depth"

been wanting to see people use the fluoro version for ages to see the change, intend to do something like this myself with my upcoming cab of experimental doom..

isn't 6500k daylight spec also supposed to keep things a little more bushy, and increase resin production? either way, the more accurately we can reproduce the sun under fluoros, the better things will get. Good luck mate.

Should I remove the glass on my hood when using a 10k 1kw bulb during last two weeks of flowering?
I've heard uvb radiation was a big part of resin production and wondered if the glass would block uvb, as I assume the glass is made with lead.
Any thoughts on this?

It's the glass of the bulb that filters most of the UV spectrum. Removing your hood glass will not make any observable difference.
