I've bought 2x 400 watt Metal Halide Bulbs from one of the big bulb eTailers, 2 separate transactions.
The first 400 watt just plain didn't spark.
The second 400 watt ran for about a month and then died.
It's in about a 12 year old ballast I got from Greentrees in San Diego.
AKA Hydroponics.net
I was equivocating about whether to save the old bulb, which may have been about 2 years old. I was sort of leaning towards "organized procrastination", it was in a box labelled "Old Bulbs" in the garage.
Anyway, sure am glad I did !
I guess one thing I can learn is, old bulbs are Very Good Tools for checking a ballast when buying supposedly new bulbs from an eTailers.
What I was wondering is, is it possible for a ballast to be a bulb-killer - and STILL get along with a 2 year old bulb ?
