NL Scrog Harvest under CMH

Just harvested my first attempt at a scrog hydro grow. grew four NL clones in 5 gal recirc dwc system. Lighting used was 2 x 400w cmh bulbs from veg to harvest.

veg time to fill screen was 35 days.

flowered for 65 days.

100 days total was a little longer than I expected. thats only 3.5 harvest per yr.

didnt get 1 gram per watt as I had hoped. 665g dry weight however expecting to lose a litle more weight during cure.

jury is still out on these cmh bulbs. buds arent quite as dense as I like to see them.

Somewhere between .81g/watt and .85g/watt is what it looks like to me. That is still better than most and the buds look nice!!!!! Never grown straight up NL (just crosses), but I don't recall it being in a huge yielder.

.81g/watt at 650g. so if you lost another 15g (you probably won't) that is where you would be. You can hit the 1g/watt with the CMH and 2lb under 800w is not that far away from where you are at. I still say good job!!!!

I love your scrog setup, that is exactly what I am doing next run.

Dude, we both just harvested on 2 x 400w CMH bulbs. I think I will pull about the exact same harvest in grams as well. Granted mine took 25 more days than yours, but i know a scrog setup would have helped.

You shouldn't be discouraged with that yield- and on the maiden voyage of a new setup- it takes time to dial in any system, and from the looks of it you're well on your way!

I vote with Climbinghigh. Looks great to me. I pulled 0.5 grams per watt in a 21 week grow and I'm thrilled (it was a sativa with 17 week flower period and fluffy buds) I got better bud than I can find on the street, all that I can smoke and saved a couple thousand dollars in the bargain.

Unless you were growing purely for profit, I'd be darn proud of that grow.

thanks for all the feedback everyone. dont get me wrong, im happy with the harvest, I just thought the scrog screen would get me over the 1 gram per watt hump. havent made it to the top of that mountain yet...lol still climbing.

Azeotrope - I guess doing the math, .8g per watt isnt that bad. just started some white widow clones in the dwc system yesterday. we will see how it yields in comparison. smoke report will be several weeks away on the NL.

Microwido - I checked out your grow bro. nice setup and good looking harvest. were your buds dense or a little fluffy? my last cmh grow without the scrog came out with some fluffier bud than normal too with these bulbs compared to hps grows I have done in the past. im not 100% convinced its the bulbs causing it just yet. could be the grower.

on this next round, I will veg under both cmh's and the first 2 weeks of the 12/12 stretch, then swap one bulb out for a 400w hps bulb the rest of flowering for the fattening up period. there will be a little bleed over of hps and cmh spectrums but I want to see if there is a difference at the end. maybe ill do a journal here.

Climbinghigh - this is my 5th grow using my recirc dwc, just the 1st with a scrog screen over it. I like the scrog and have already started the next round with white widow clones from amsterdammarijuanaseeds.xxx. my NL also came from them. it was plain packaging when I got the beans last year so I do not know who provides their genetics. these NL nugs are glistening frosty though....lol

FreezerBoy - props to the deep freeze grows man...lol genious. thats what I call thinking 'inside' the box...

17 weeks is a long ass flowering period. I may skip the sativa beans I have on hand...lol and you are correct about getting it on the street, I got tired of that ass beating game and decided last year to save some money and grow my own. I dont sell, just keep the better half and myself supplied.

Johnny that is exactly where I got the WW I ordered! It took them about 3 weeks to deliver. The extra 10 seeds were all random small white seeds. I would not order from there again, the main 10 white widow seeds, 4 of them were not even tiger stripped. Also, one of the white widow seeds is not a pure white widow, I am guessing it is a cross of some kind with Master Kush. I am not complaining, it created my largest bud.

I ended up with Light of Jah and Purple Erkle and I didnt know it until recently. So I ordered 10 WW + 10 extra and I got

8 WW sprouted
7 bag seeds sprouted

4 WW were female, 4 were male. (1 female is cross of master kush)

5 bag seeds made it, one confirmed Light of Jah which is supposed to be good sativa, looking forward to smoke report. The other 4 im not 100%, but one is purple strain.

I will never grow random non femenized seeds indoors again. Cloning or female only seeds for me.


If I had 8 white widows instead of 4, i guarantee I could have made the 1/1 gram watt ratio. I got about 3 onces per ww with LST, with scrog it would have been 4.

yeah, i ordered from them before I did any research. slow as hell delivery too. took about 6 weeks. it was my 1st bean order. I have been ordering all my beans since then from seedboutique. good folks over there and there seeds are in breeder packs.

I also got some freebie pack of beans from them and the beans are as your described, mostly white and small. no clue as to what they are. they look bleached....lol

are you going to scrog your next grow?

I wish I had more room to maneuver around in my grow space to properly train the back side of the scrog. thats the only complaint I had about it. it looks like you have lots of room in your space. note, if you build your scrog screen from pvc, dont use 1/2" like I did, its to light and my plants were pushing it up off the floor. I would use 1".
