Blue Sonja From Steele And The GrindHouse

I'd like to apologize to Steele for the delay in getting this report up, it should have been done a while ago.

Thanks Steele, for letting me test such awesome genetics and sorry for taking so long to get this up.

Blue Sonja Smoke Report

BACKGROUND:

The plants were grown under a 600w hps for 70 days and harvested.

I ended up with a couple different phenos; one indica pheno (Blue Sonja 2), one leafy pheno (Blue Sonja 6), and two denser phenos (Blue Sonja 1, Blue Sonja 3).

I cured the main colas for a month and used samples from them for this smoke report.

YIELD:

Except for the indica pheno (Blue Sonja 2), most of the plants have a decent stretch to them. The indica pheno (Blue Sonja 2) yielded just under an oz, and the rest yielded about 1 1/2 oz per plant.

SMOKE REPORT:

I'm breaking this report down to include a report on each of the four females I grew.

====

Blue Sonja 1

Blue Sonja 1 had dense sticky buds that had an immediate spicy/earthy smell to them. The buds smoked smooth and the spice taste carried into the smoke.

====

Blue Sonja 2

Blue Sonja 2 was a very dense indica leaning pheno. Initially it had a spicy/earthy smell, but upon breaking the buds up, a fruity smell came through. The smoke was smooth and had a nice spicy fruit taste.

====

Blue Sonja 3

Blue Sonja 3 had dense sticky buds with a spicy/earthy aroma with a hint of fruit. You could taste the spice in the smoke (the fruity smell didn't carry into the smoke) and the smoke itself was very expansive.

====

Blue Sonja 6

Blue Sonja 6 was a much leafier pheno and smelled a lot less than the other plants. The buds smelled almost lemony but upon breaking the buds up a slight spicy/earthy smell came out. The smoke was smooth but lacked flavor.

====

OVERALL:

I love the taste of the Blue Sonja, the spicy/earthy smell reminds me of when I first started smoking many years ago. The high is pretty clear headed and a good day smoke. That said, if you are a heavy smoker of indicas then this bud may not be for you. For potency I give it an 8.5, for taste I give it a 9.

Blue Sonja is a great strain and I can't wait to see what else is coming from Steele and The GrindHouse!

growing some right now

growing some right now

we got some seeds from a friend who says that they're Blue Sonja crossed with an unknown. i was wondering if you knew anything about what we should expect. it's our first grow, and i don't know much about genetics or where these seeds came from. i was just curious about some of the little stuff that i should be concerned about. where are they from? ours are slow-growing, and is that typical or because we're using CFLs? are they inclined to get diseases? i haven't seen any signs of that, but we just started flowering last week. i was a little worried about environment, because we live in the northwest, and we got the seeds from a friend who lives in down south on the other coast, and i have no idea where he got those seeds, because he wouldn't tell me. anyway, any advice for growing these?

Sup BB , thus far we have crossed Sonja to tha Bubba , UK Cheese and Sour D(this cross was done some time ago) . Other than that I have no idea , maybe if you could elaborate on who or where they came from we'd be in a better position to tell yas exactly what they are . Regarding disease , these girls are hardy , nary showing any 'cept for PM at tha very end of tha flowering cycle if tha environment is off . Slowing growing would be tha result of using CFL's , though they look in perfect health , are you gonna be flowering under an HID ?

Any more ?'s or concerns , you can get help here : http://www.icmag.com/ic/forumdisplay.php?f=65591

We look forward to hearing more from yas ,
Steele
