Mushu's at it again... Speedqueen PC Grow Round #2

Hey everyone... I'm up and running the 2nd round already :headbange If you weren't tuned into the last grow, you can see how my two boys met their fate in the link in my sig... They died nice an healthy.. Bastards.

Anyways.. I repotted and reseeded that same morning and one seedlings already up and growing as of last night/this morning.. I stayed awake watching it pop up till like 3am lol. Theres no sign of the other one, and for superstitions sake i'm referring to them as the plants untill they show signs of sex lol

I'm using the same soil as last time, but different nutes, I went to my local hydro store and picked up the Technaflora BC Recipe for success so i actually have a chart to follow this time. I got it for like $16 so i'm happy with that :D although its not the new one they've come out with which has like all 10 products.

Anyway... We'll call this day 1 for plant one, they'll both be LST'd like last time, except using pipe cleaners, and possibly doing some fimming.

Also... Put in some new fans that have a speed adjuster, i got em both for 8 bucks and they both move about 80CFMs at full speed ^_^ I've got em running at about half speed. Also put some carbon filter one each of the exhaust fans to help during flower. I'll also be giving the drier sheet method a try

Enjoy the show, comments and criticism are always welcome :joint:

Good luck, shame about your first grow but at least it wasn't your fault. Just think how well your plants will do when you have something worth keeping.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes :)

Curiousj - Im using a soil that i found at my local hardware store here in Cali called Orchard Supply Hardware... I found this awesome soil called Whitney Farms Life Link Uncle Malcolm's Potting Soil, you can read on it here :http://www.whitneyfarms.com/products/pottingsoils.shtml#LLmalcolm

Doesnt give an N-P-K base, but its got loads of nutrients(100% organic) and my plants LOVED it, even with Whitney farms all purpose plant food: http://www.whitneyfarms.com/products/fertilizerblends.shtml#LLallpurpose I didnt have any problems at all. This time im using the same soil but with the BC Recipe for Success by Technaflora, so i'll be keeping an eye out for nute burn although i dont suspect any problems...

Just make sure you keep an eye on your waters PH and the PH of the run off, that was my only problem and it was a very minor one

Well.. I haven't actually used it all that much lol That last grow was my first one, and while they were in flower time for a while, i only used that fert like twice, once in the beginning, and once in the middle, and then i actually used a MG tomato fert that was like 18-18-21... I used half strength on the Whitney Farms, and like... 1/8th strength on the MG fert... This grow i'll be using my ferts on a schedule, but mostly watching my plants as they do talk to you and say i need food, or i dont... that kind of thing..

I'd suggest getting something like the BC Recipe for Success kit... I picked mine up at the hydro store for 16bucks and it gives you charts to go buy and everything...

I'm not an expert grower.. Its just i've been lucky and i did about 6-7 months of reading before i even got my case built let alone started growing lol

Good luck. I'll be watching again. Heres hoping for girls!
Do you have any pictures of your male buds as they were developing? I am super worried that mine are dudes

I do actually... Last page of my last grow.. first pic, its upside down, but you should get the idea... Do you have any pics of your plants you could show?

It's only been 5 days.. the other two and this one sprouted in 3-4 days.. But i heard it can take up to 5-10 days =/ Seeds have been pretty healthy so far... Really think i should throw down another?

Hey, I just realized that I am using the same nutes as you are. If you have any questions, I might be able to help. I bought the same kit from my hydro store. It is perfect for these kind of grows. Good luck!

oh, and I can't get good pictures of my plants. I dont have a good enough camera. They aren't shaped like balls, but they dont look big enough to be buds. There aren't hairs coming out. I know this is probably really vague. I think I might be confused. I just remembered that the one seedling was younger, and I might be giving it nutes way too early. Though it does look better than the older one. It is darker and fuller.

Nice... My only difference with you is that ill be watering in between my nute feeds(thats what the chart say anywho) but i'll be sure to stop on by if i do :)

As for the plants.. Id say wait a couple more days and it should reveal itself... Mine started out as really tiny balls and gradually got bigger. Kinda glad the first two WERE guys so i actually know what to look for now :) Your plants still seem a little small to be able to sex even though you ARE on a lighting schedule now.. Mine didnt show sex for like two weeks into the lighting schedule cuz they weren't mature enough.

Edit- PS... Love your reason for your edit lol... Wish i had stuff to smoke :(

Mushu,

Can you give me an idea how you set up the intake and outtake fans?

I'm trying to figure out a design.....u need air in and out to control temps....but also need air to blow on plant for strength...from what ive read anyway

Ive heard there's a debate between fan intake vs passive intake

What do you think

immaculate - thank you sir :)

Sm0kateer4204 - only reason i'm not currently is because 1, i dont have much room, and two, i actually dont mind if i get one male and one female... I'm actually not growing this right now to smoke as weird as that may sound... If i end up with both females.. Sweet.. but if not, i plan on letting them breed and then just harvasting all the seeds so i'll have even more down the road. I'm thinking ahead on this one and not just for the short term hehe

curiousj - I'll respond tomorrow or tomorrow night with better details and pics of what it actually is... For now:

I have 4 fans in this PC case, if you look closely in the pic on the first page you can see three fans on the right, one top(20-80CFM adjustable), one mid(20-80cfm adjustable), one bottom(55cfm). I have ONE fan intake up at the top right(55cfm), blowing across my 3 27w CFLs that are behind the cardboard to act almost like a wind tunnel to direct the airflow out the back fan on the top. The Lexan glass I have in there is set up in such a way that it doesnt cover the whole fan since its a 120mm fan, and because of that, it allows airflow from the bottom portion of the fan to blow across the plants... It actually does a pretty good job :) I also have a few passive intake holes at the bottom right, below the fan. The front cover of the case has an opening at the bottom for that airflow to reach the holes and the fan.

I'll post better pics of that for you tomorrow though...

Also.. Good news on the second seed.. I lightly agitated the soil, and to my surprise.. I see a little sprout.. I did not touch, it was just jostled, so i settled the soil back down, watered a bit more, VERY LIGHTLY, and it should pop up by morning :)

EDIT for CuriousJ - It is better to have MORE exhaust and a passive intake for micro grows, that it is to have equal exhaust and intake i think... Always overdue your exhaust is one thing that has proven most effective. Always overdue your exhaust... If you think it can be handled by say a 150cfm fan.. Get a 200... You can never have to much airflow :)
