otherwise the oil will sit on the water.....

allows it to become more of a suspension, and make application a lot easier..

I use it with wet betty or agri 2. It emulsifies the oil and helps it mix with the water and also lowers the surface tension of the water allowing it to stick to the plant better for longer maximizing the effect of the foliar application

or i mix it with pro-tekt... like it says on the back as an emulsifier with good results... or like they stated use liquid soap that helps too til i got money for the pro-tekt...

Dyna grow is 100% cold pressed pure neem oil, which alot of other brands aren't. The big difference is that einstein oil is the first extraction...the purest. Einstien oil isn't 100% neem like dyna grow is...EI is also enhanced with several other potent herbal ingredients that supposedly increase its effectiveness. I would have to say these two are my two favorite neems. I have used both..both work good. :)

What bugs have you got clown?

Thanks so much for all the helpful replies, everyone.

kokua, as usual, you've got pretty much exactly the answer I was looking for!

I'm not quite sure what bugs I might have... there were a few different shaped ones, although none seemed to match the description of a spider mite. There were some clear, round eggs under the leaves as well.

Right now I'm not trying to deal with an actual infestation, but attempting to contain a possible problem, and working to create as hostile an environment for the critters to be doing any sort of reproduction while keeping as safe an environment for me living within very close proximity to the grow.

I'm going to start reading about wetting agents today, and visit the grow shop later to do some shopping. :Bolt:

well the caterpillar larvae are causing me trouble now-will neem work for them?

Sounds like it should; sounds like the way it works is that the bugs eat neem, and the neem makes the bugs lose interest in eating... and they die, never reaching sexual maturity.

yeah-i figured the bitter oil would keep them at bay so i'll be spraying generously this weekend-almost nothing worse than seeing a greasy cola consumed from the inside out leaving a pile of crubly organic matter

1/4 tsp ivory dish soap works great as a wetting agent and much cheaper, dont use anti bacterial/fungal soaps !!!!

plain ivory dish soap isnt 1 of them types i believe on the bottles directions it even says 1/4 tsp dish soap or to use a wetting agent. dish soap is much cheaper1 when you mix the solution shake very well to mix spray generously undersides and tops of all leaves. soak em allow to fully dry before placing under the lights i used a small fan to help dry just follow the directions on the bottle. if you have mites you'll notice the 1's that have ingested the neem they'll have black bodies whilst the other still have green

if you use Safer Brand "Bio-neem" you will never need a wetting or spreading agent ever agian. It has a much better consistancy and doesnt have that oil suspended in water property like other neems and wont solidify in the bottle either. Buy a bottle and you will never buy any other brands again, I promise.

MajPotHead is right on when stated NOT to use the anti bacterial soaps.... I have killed all plants that I sprayed when I tried using this stuff.... (seedlings)

Wow, thanks guys!

Major, thanks again for the heads-up on the soaps / anti-bacterial soaps!

DJ Highst, that's great to hear about the BioNeem! Not sure if the shops in Berkeley carry it, but I know Plant'It Earth in SF carries it.

Heres something to remember. The neem puts a wax film on the plant. Its a good Idea to spray your plants 3 days later with just plain water and wetting agent(whatever u use). It does 2 things it cleans the oil film of your plants left by neem which by now has already come in contact with your pest, and the bubbles from the wetting agent suffocate your pest by blocking the air passages with soap bubbles.
