Helllo all you sifters out there,

I bought some silkscreen the otherday and have begun dry sieving some sugar leaf... my method was a plastic container that had a piece of screen pulled across it where the lid snaps on, then i just shook away.

the first sift was great and i didnt use much effort shaking, but have now had to be more firm to get it out. its coming out less hashy now but is still giving a nice amount of kif. zoomed in on it and its mostly stalks and pistil dust on the last pass. maybe %10 heads.

as for the leaf, its been nearly raped but i know theres still heads in the nooks and such, also this wasnt a 'large trichrome' strain, more of a light frosting of smaller sized heads.

i was wondering where to go with it from here. after looking at some bubble hash threads im a bit confused if i can make it with just one size screen? or is my leaf already spent for any other screening unless i want dust? thanks for any help

Crus it up, put it in a container and shake it hard and do another run on your silk screen.

You can also make cannabutter out of your left overs.

Take some of your dry sift, put in a peice of parchment paper, fold it over like 3 times, so you have a 'fold' of kief, turn your cloths iron on lowest setting, set iron on fold for like 2.5 minutes, PRESTO! Try It, Puff

when shaking (dry sifting) 70 ~ 80% of the trichomes will be separated from the material in the first minute or two...

but have now had to be more firm to get it out. its coming out less hashy now but is still giving a nice amount of kif. zoomed in on it and its mostly stalks and pistil dust on the last pass. maybe %10 heads.

place the dry plant material in the freezer for an hour or two (or more)..this dry cold will help with quality and quantity.

you could grind the plant material to slightly smaller than rolling consistancy, freeze, then vigorously shake the material....collect all this rough kif, remove all the plant material from above the mesh and gently re-sift the kif with a credit card, stopping when about 85% of the kif has passed through the mesh...this will help improve the purity

eventually, there comes a point with dry sifting when you have to stop as there's is so little resin mixed in with the broken up plant material that it's no worth it..

you can make ice hash with no screen, one screen or buy Bubble Man's 8 bag set!...but it's been my experience that plant material that has been dry sifted, then re-sifted , then ground up and re-sifted will have less than 5% of the available resin still on the material and so it is not worth ice hashing it...but if the material was only lightly dry sifted and then ice hashed the results are definitely worthwhile

here's a basic no screen mesh ice hash method , place the plant material, ice and freezing cold water in a sealable plastic container, shake the hell out of it for 5 mins (opr until your arms drop off)....let the container sit in the fridge for an hour...gently tap the sides of plastic container a few times...the ice and agitation causes the resin heads to separate from the material, resinheads will sink and become sediment on the bottom of the jar, the plant material will float, gently spoon out the floating leaves, siphon out the water (don't disturb the sediment) then pour the remaining inch of water through a couple of coffee filters (or 50 micron mesh)..voila ghetto ice hash!..repeat again to get the last of the resin

Nice screenless method! Sounds nice and easy. My butter never seems to work out. Should the leaf be completly dry or can it be fresh off the plant?

there's lots of way to separate resin heads from the cannabis plant!....find a way that suits you!

the short answer is either wet or dried material can be ice hashed..

I suggest you do further reading in this forum for more info.....the info contained here on ICmag will increase your yield..promise!

the next step up from no mesh ice hashing is to use a kitchen strainer to filter the ice and plant material from the resin loaded cold water..then let it set in the fridge for the sediment (resin heads) to sink down

My butter never seems to work out. Should the leaf be completly dry or can it be fresh off the plant?

I've never made cannabutter with fresh material, always dried....so I can't say....but it should work ok, but it would be a yucky tasting green

I take the sift, put it into a plastic cigaretter cellephane, push it down tight and roll it and tape it with scotch tape. I then take a square piece of grocerybag, roll it around the package three times and pull the corners over , tape that tight, soak it in water and put it in the oven for ten min at a 130 degrees, or until the water is off the paper. Take it hot, put it on a hard surface and press it hard with a round bat or something you can really press it down with. Somewhere I saw a video that explains it better. I will see if I can find it....

excuse my ignorance...but what is the point of pressing the kif into hash? Does it get you any higher? Whats wrong with smoking the kif in the powder form? Thanks guys...

There is no problem in smoking raw hash powder, i prefere it that way and if you are oprerating a vaporizer it is the most optimal way of smoking it

But if you are in to joints and pibes/chillums it is nice that the hash is more olie like in substans and more compresed so you can make small ball that fires up when one is toking, it is a Q of taste in my concern and looks, I just hand rub it when it is fore a chillum or joint.
