$40 variable speed blower

I was at Harbor freight over the weekend and saw a variable speed blower for $39.99.It is similar to the stanley blower except for variable speed and its output is fixed position. The box claims 300 cfm.The outside is sturdy and can be setup in a variety of positions. There are 2 grounded outlets with a reset. For our use the fixed blower would be fine. The mods for fan looks similar to stanley.I'll confirm later when I pickup starter collar and acessories.I've used chicago tools for many years. The fan is balanced and does not scoot across the floor.Time will tell I guess. My first use will be for a 150 hps cooltube in a warddrobe. :joint: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93231

you can get some decent buys from Harbor freight but for durability i would stick with the stanely. every tool ive ever bought from Harbor freight has wore out before its time. our nick name for them in the construction trade is Harbor junk

I agree with some of their stuff is junk.Especially if harbor freights name is on it.Chicago tools brand is a whole different animal.Take notice that chicago tools cost about twice as much as a "harbor freight brand".All of my chicago tools have survived almost a decade of home improvements(business). As I've made more $$ over the years,I've splurged more $$ on "sturdier brands" but have never gotten a better bang for the buck.I bet it is every bit as good as the stanley.Time will tell. The main selling point over the stanley was variable speed or 3 speed. This unit is quiet and does not scoot around the floor from an imbalanced motor.Check it out,the clerk even let me take it out of box and try it first. If you feel the need for variable speed, have no fear, quality is here.

That just goes to the item. I was looking for pics after it had been modded to work for exhausting grow cabs. :)

Now, I think this is a great find because we need less to convert it where it will automatically adjust faster or slower depending on requirements.

I would get the one made by Stanley except not a soul in my area has it. :(

Just a heads up, the Stanley blower is variable(3) speed.

I think homedepot delivers, unless your way out in the woods.

And another heads up...If your looking to go stealth I wouldn't recommend a Stanley...Noisy buggers, makes much more noise than I expected, especially if your going to use 4' exhaust duct like I am

I have mine in a closet and there is a constant thumping or throbbing...Almost like the annoying neighbor kid is sitting outside your house in his car with the subwoofer thumping

Next buy on my list: Panasonic Whisper
