The Real Sour D in flower..

Here's the real Sour at about 45 days 12/12..

I overfed this extra clone in veg and she wasn't so hot going into flower. She has recovered nicely but the early problems will no doubt hurt yeild.

It should be said this is the 2nd cut I got called Sour D or ECSD.. But the 1st one was determined to be the Sour D IBL or an early version. It had much too much sativa in it the leaves so was obviously not the real one right away.

When I got the 2nd one I knew it was the real deal, it's quite distinct even in veg, and in about 4-5 weeks I'll be able to sample upon her delicious fruits for the 1st time.

















I'll be sure to post up the finished flower pics and a smoke and grow report when she's done. I had a hard time finding good pics of the real SD with IC's search function, so hopefully it'll help people see if they have the real thing a little easier.

hey BC, hehe im here to tell ya to let her get to the 80 day mark, lol.

at 70 days shes a great smellin smokin plant, but if ya huff alot, you will find the buzz to drop off fast, less then an hr. but go the distance and the head lasts, and is even more potent imo.

Looks great, even if it did start slow... nice work bc

The last one I put in was also not 100% healthy... but still came out decent, light yield tho. This is the real SD in mid flower, since you were lookin for a pic.

Great comments IGT, CBF, nice to hear some tips and opinions from some of the most knowledgable growers on this site. I definately plan to let her go as long as possible. I have heard the same thing about the length of the high, usualy about 1/2 hr for most people. So I'll definately be looking for a change of pace from the usual description. I may harvest her in sections, just to experience all aspects of this cut.

cheers m.steelers, I am pretty happy with how she recovered. You can see the damages leaves on the lower levels of the plant, you can see the nute burn from overfeeding (same nutes as most other strains were getting). Thanks for the pic, it's nice to have as many here as possible, I know it was harder to find some good full plant shots or good fan leaf shots of her when I was originaly looking for info a few months ago. Looks like you'll have some tasty Sour D soon! :yummy:

I've kinda lost track on the flowering day unfortunately, I only know aprox how far along she is. But as IGT and CFB suggested, I'll be trying to let her go as long as possible..

I'll probly take the top colas to at least 70-75 days, and let the rest of the plant and 1 cola go to 80, and maybe even a few nugs longer.

As said ealier, this is an experimental run with SD, so I'll be playing with it a little bit to see what suits me best. I'm guessing I'll like the 80 day range the best.

damn... very nice.. been trying to get my hands on this strain for awhile.. guess ill have to wait until everyone gets their seeds and stops buying them out so quick, and for so much.. your lady has got some nice frostyness going and i bet she smells delicous.. keep us updated man..

bc I'm smokin that now... she's been curing about 40 days. intoxicating smell, high and taste.

I let her go 71 days... people take her from the early 60s all the way up to low 80s.

shes a picky one in my spot every run with her i
loose leafs on her fast but definatly one of my all time favs.
had her for a few now.
have one in a waterfarm now that is growing real nice.
lookin good.

i just took a sample about 3-4 days ago, and let it dry normaly, and smoked a joint last night and wow, the taste is as good as I hoped :yummy:

I took this sample at about 30-40% red pistils, so I'm guessing she's around 55-60 days now. The high was pretty potent, but as many say it only stuck with me for maybe 15-20 mins, then by 30mins completely clear headed again and stone cold sober.

Taste descriptions are SO subjective, as I don't find much 'deisel' smell, and not much 'sour' smell either. I would call it more 'sweet' and 'skunky' than Sour D, btu that's just me. I find me and 3 close friends would all describe the same smell in a different way, so maybe I'm just the odd man out, and am looking at it differently.

The 1st cut I got as ECSD had more actual deisel smell, like actual deisel fuel, and a sour lemon smell to it in the background. So to me it suited the name better, but I prefer the real one I just sampled over it by far.

I love skunky-dank smelling-tasting stuff, it's my favorite type of flavor and taste. The SD is up there with Cheese and Deep Chunk (my pheno) as far as taste, and better than PG13 by a bit. But the quality of the high is superior on all of the others. SD may be a little more potent than Cheese in the 1st couple mins, but that's about it. But the taste on the SD is super, definately one of the best tasting strains I've smoked.

I'm sure when I let it go to 80 days the high quality will get better, but it'll have to change alot to compete with the best cuts in my garden.

Even from the small sample I smoked I know it'll be a keeper in my garden for a good while just based on flavor. I look forward to mixing some with Cheese and Deep CHunk in a joint, should be a nice combo.


I have a question for those who have lots of SD experience. At 80 days is SD still putting out new pistils? And at 70 days how many pistils are dead/new?

I lost track of flowering days so any info will help.

ECSD with about 1 week cure. the mites really hit her bad at the end. She's a superb tasting smoke with a great kick, but not much stay. after about 25-30 mins I almost feel straighter than I did before I smoked, it's wierd. might work well to clean my palet for testing..

Overall, an excellent cut, just not in grail territory for me de to the high and because it's fairly finicky, altho not bad. the finicky thing is nothing a few grows with her won't fix..

definate top 5 so far altho probly lower on that list... still hella tasty, but not quite the full package. but i love tasty :yummy:

Nice Sour D Bro! Have you Let one go 75 + days yet??? They say the high is more Potent and last longer... I will be taking one at 57 days and one at 75 + to see if its true! Peace.~ograskal

hey ogras :) I would guess this plant went at least 70 days, if not even longer. I would say closer to 75-80.

Unfortunately, as this plant was kinda hurtin going into flower, flowered on the edge of my garden, in a summer grow, and had jus started to get slight mite webbing at chop, I'm sure it's no where near what it should look like for a 70-80 day plant.

I think all the stress made it take about a week or more extra, cause she was still chuckin quite a few white pistils when I took her. I actualy woulda let her go a little longer, but when I saw the mites start to build webs I decided to call it quits.

The buds are still dense, I just imagine the the space i between the buds would be filled in a bit more on a healthy plant, and she woulda yeilded better.

I did take some earlier samples, from about 60 days.. But i felt sober after about 15-20 mins with those ones, hardly worth smoking but for the wicked taste.. So from what I can see it's definately worth letting go longer. If I were you I would only take a small sample at 57 days, maybe an 1/8-1/4 dry.. Because when all is said and done you will prefer 70 days plus. I haven't met many real heads that take her earlier than that.

can't wait to see yours, mine's probly not the best representation.

Thanks for the info Bro! The only reason why I'll be taking one down at 57 days is cuz I will need a good amount of bud for a little trip I'll be going on and that will be the next plant that is closest to being finished. I'll be takin some Updated pics of my Sour D real soon. I'll be sure to let my other Sour D go at least 75+ days! Peace,~ograskal

Sup BC, nice show! strange but a plant will act and grow differently in different enviroments. My ecsd smells like your first clone and hits like your second. And since it's a sativa dom clone it's certainly not advisible to pick too early. 72-80 days being the norm for full effect. And I'm not sure why people want to pick it any sooner and then say the high dosen't last. No high lasts long if picked too soon.(indicas included). :chin:

That being said I'm very sure she'll turn out better for you as she does take some tune in. Your pics look wonderful(buds too). Thanks for your work.
