ancient mazar

well, this from the old mazar freebies of years ago
7 years in cold storage qualifies as kind of ancient
for those not familiar with this seed line, it's reputation was a little iffy
some had some good plants, others not so much
but i'm happy the seed sprouted, and kind of excited in seeing what i'll get
but i'm always stoked for a new grow

all right, a little more to show, and pardon poor pic, i really should start using better camera
anyhow, cool grow temps so slow growing, partly heated indoor location, good security though
and i do see an indica type of plant, fat leaves showing, long leaf stems, little wild looking i think
so what does this mean? well, i ain't no indica expert, hybrid experience indoor, sativa's back in the days of outdoor
but i'm happy so far, i don't think it looks too bad

wasn't planning on updating for a while
however, it's showing me some strange, seeing a 3 branch node
which is not something i've encountered before, though plant health looks good
the lower 1st node fan is also a 2 leafer, looks natural, not a cut off leaf
wondering if there's some mutant going on here, hoping nothing stranger shows up

ok, looks like i have a fat indica in my grow chamber
around 5 nodes, which is when i flower my hybrids, micro grower i be
i look at this baby, and i don't really know, don't have a feel for it yet
maybe a day or 2 more of veg, but grower opinions much welcome

start of flower

start of flower

quick retake on this 'strain', not a lot of positive grows, but some
however, i'm seeing a fairly impressive indica
squat doesn't do it justice, it's scarcely 3 inches tall
but flowering is needed i think, it's growing too quick
and being reg seeds a male is possible, but fine with that
got some not very stable fem seeds which could use some good male pollen

1 week flower

plant about 6 inches high - grow chamber is 15 1/2 inches wide
very compact plant, more than twice as wide as tall
are these the mazar freebies that were so disdained? shaking my head at this point
that compact implies a drug cultivar, this genetic pool maybe not so bad
now about the flower, nothing showing yet, male chances shrinking?
a little odor, skunk in there i think

moment of truth

moment of truth

and i have a female, nothing wrong with that
but i kind of wanted a male, guess that's how it works
interesting though, a slow grower
but that's a landrace, definitely a few steps behind hybrid grow rates
some smell, but not overwhelming, not yet anyways

It sounds like you got a hold of a relatively un-worked line. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

here's the the 3 week flower mark
plant is about 9 inches tall - 9 inches? wtf
i knew it would not likely be a big yielder, but that squat has shocked me
flowers more showy now, not bad looking
and smell, that's different too, like a smelly hay - kind of

4 week flower

4 week flower

the 4th week of flower, good but could have been better
lower fans are losing color, and that's sooner than i would have liked
feeding with half strength alfalfa tea, was hesitant to feed with anything stronger
a landrace from a desert area is not likely to be a heavy feeder
however, this one seems like it could have used more
there was much debate on the origins of the seeds, i'm thinking it wasn't that poor a soil they were originally grown in
as usual, live and learn

Looks like you are enjoying yourself. Hope you don't mind if I hop on for the rest of the journey.
feel free
and you're right, i am enjoying the grow though i think i could have done better
thinking about a bump in the nutrient level, may let me salvage some more yield

5 weeks flower

5 weeks flower

5 weeks in, not a big plant
doesn't look like it will get much taller than a foot
more veg would probably have helped, but micro setup does cramp that choice a bit
extra feeding not hurting, but yields will be small
in short, behaving like a landrace indoors, they have their challenges
but bud quality? there's the hope

6 week flower

6 week flower

6 weeks, some fresh observations
ragged looking from the outside
but nicer underneath, good buds forming
nice sugar on the sugar leaves
really looks like a landrace hashish cultivar
branches green/vigorous, big fans yellowing/drying
i think it would have done better in a larger pot
but not complaining, yield looking better
