Hey all, ive decided to take a 4 day trip to Amsterdam on August 13th..
I've read some of the posts and jotted some coffee shop names, but I wanted to ask anyway, any places that I MUST visit in Amsterdam? I also want to use this trip to learn more about growing and cannabis culture what-not. I recently completed my first successful grow! any recommendations for coffeeshops or museums? any additional information would be greatly apprieciated!!

also any recommendations for hotels?
Internet access is a must.. i was planning to stay at the Ramada

Just got back from my first trip there- what a place:D

I found the lady in the Cannabis college to be very chatty and helpful, also stoned out her tree. Like Oldpink said is a good place to start. I tried to find Sb, and got lost for a hour and a half :(

As for coffee shops- there are so many scattered around, its a pick and choose sort of thing. I liked the grass-hopper, selection isnt great but I like the atmosphere and the staff too :D Oh and I remember going into nescafe (think its called that) they had some nice weed I thought.

Have a good time, its hard not to over there.

yeah the lady at the cannabis college is quite friendly,

amsterdam is pretty easy to get around, just figure out how to use the train system, and once you understand the main areas of amsterdam it will all look so small.

some good coffeeshops i really enjoy are barneys (for both bud and breakfast), amnesia, abraxas, rockerij , and one of the greenhouse cafes (im not sure what one)

be sure to pick up a coffeeshop map while ur there, i see them everywhere .

best of luck.

What reason was given for cancelling the flight from london to amsterdam. If you were flying london to new york I could understand it, but amsterdam doesn't make any sense to me.

sorry to hear of your troubles
I was told that very few flights from the UK are getting out to Amsterdam
I've noticed that the town is very quiet this week, a lot quieter than normal for this time of year

It was a mess at Heathrow yesterday as I imagine the same at other UK airports, and the pouring rain didnt help either.. :(
They didnt give much explanation about the canceled flights other than "due to the security situation".. worst part is I heard that BA customers got a free hotel room because of this, but KLM refused to compensate.. now one night of hotel and a non refundable flight down the drain... :(
i just pray to God that my flight on Thursday back to Toronto will fly as scheduled.. in my opinion, Terrorism has won.

yeah it really sucks
I'm worried that I'll have problems as I travel from the Uk to the dam and back on a regular basis
and KLM have cancelled on me before with no hotel room, lucky I had a place to stay
the best of it is I'm a KLM silver card holder and I'm supposed to get special treatment

i agree, when terrorists turn a supposedly free country into a paranoid security first dictatorship, then they have won.

I wasnt going to let the terroists spoil my trip that easy. Sure I lost my money on the cancelled flight, but I dont give up easy. I took the boat today, and after 5+ hours of travelling by rail and sea, I finally reach this wonderful city of Amsterdam at 3:30am. Cant wait till the morning to explore, Im only staying for 2 nights so i'm gonna have to make the most of the time im here. but I think the long journey is only going make this that much sweeter :)

queso- i didnt come direct from toronto, i was on vacation elsewhere before I came to london, my KLM flight was just LHR>AMS.
