Paint sprayer + Miticide = Better coverage?

I was wondering if I can use miticide/water mixture with a paint sprayer. Right now I am using a hand pump sprayer which works, but I want/need something that gives a more even coverage. The wand the comes with the sprayer is great for reaching in between and underneath the plants so that made me question will the paint sprayer be able to reach the plants in the back of the table 4x4? What about the underside of the leaves?

I've seen atomizers, but they are kind of pricey. What about foggers, do they need some kind of fogger liquid to work or can I just use water+miticide?

U know im not sure..... dont see why it wouldnt work well.... wish ida thought bout that before i bought the atomizer. .... but to be fare the atomizer works excellent n does my room in minutes... used to be a whole day project.... wasnt that much think i got it for a bit over 200 ...i say if ya gonna drop 100 drop 2 n get the atomizer... the sprayer will work but it still sprays a liquid that u gotta make sure gets where u want it where as the atomizer sprays a fog that gets everywhere basically i dont have to get deep into the room i completely covers everything, ,,, i had to check myself i crawled through the jungle to the furthest corner n be damn every leaf was misted perfectly. ... id say get the sprayer if ur area is small but if u got alot of plants alot of space u need the atomizer. ... worth ever cent,.... 15 min with it did what 12 hrs would do spraying.... would do a 10x10 in 3 minutes perfectly limiting ur exposure to the nasty shit u spraying... truth ...

I'll be honest with you. This is probably the best fogger/mister I've ever used. Just open the door, stick the nozzle in the room and turn it on. Covers EVERYTHING. On top and bottom of the leave and the whole stem. Anything that's exposed gets covered. I do not sale them but if the one I have access to ever moves away it's my first purchase, lol
The mist it produces is so fine it's like a fog.

I just bought that same sprayer, it is the shit. I cringe thinking about when I used to spray with a pump sprayer.

I also have a paint sprayer, it is a bitch to clean. If you're purchasing something just to spray your plants, get that fogger.

Yeah I like the atomizer myself, but not sure if it's worth the $ for such a small grow (or maybe it's because I am a cheap ass lol). The atomizer $200+ while the Ryobi sprayer is $70. But if performance wise is really night and day, I might just have to bite the bullet.

Decisions decisions!!!! What about the Masterfogger Jr?

1 4x4 table???? Stick with the pump sprayer... Unless u plan on expanding the atomizer is over kill...they are designed for max coverage over a large area not small spaces... Mine is pretty powerful machine n could do alot of damage in a 4x4 broken branches blown over plants... . Dude really just use the pump sprayer n get in there.

This one? I have it also, it works pretty well. Would definitely be sufficient for a 4x4. Does a good job making a fine mist. The 1 quart capacity and discharge rate was just not cutting it for my needs

I needed something for my backyard also. Neighbor's yard is a total mess so as a first line of defense I want to keep everything in check not just mites.

What was it about the discharge rate that wasn't cutting it? Too big of a droplet? Does this dispense an actual fog or more of a fine mist?

Can anyone explain to me the difference between an atomizer and a fogger? Which one would be better for covering the underside of leaves if I can't reach all the way to the back of the table?

After some consideration...I don't think the paint sprayer idea will work for underside because of all the branches and such being in the way. I mean it will cover some, but I don't think it's enough for a mite infestation.

It was a pretty fine mist. Comparable to the Hudson model suggested earlier. It just didn't throw enough liquid for my needs, simply took too long.

The bigger fogger has adjustable output rates as well as droplet size.

If you're spraying your backyard too, and you can swing the bigger fogger, I would recommend it. Extra $100 well spent, in my opinion.

Buy a miticide that works just by spraying the top side of the leaves like Forbid 4F or Kontos.

2. 3-4 days later repeat with diff miticide

I was thinking Forbid then Floromite then Avid. Reasoning behind this is Forbid and Avid have a similar MOA and if I remember correctly both are great on larvae and eggs but not so much adults. Floromite is better against adults. Does Forbid and Avid need to be Ph'ed water (5.5-6.5) like Floromite?

I am so glad I ran across this thread!!! I spent last night laying on floor, in cramped area, wearing painters suit, mask, and goggles, trying to spray upward at the bottoms of leaves. The whole time thinking about the nasty warnings on the labels of miticides. It is worth every penny, just to not have to be in the room.

Sears sells the Hudson for 440 dollars, so a little over 200 is a bargain.

I wonder if a misting humidifier could be used for tents.

Good luck... Test that thing outside first before u point it at ya plants... Im all for overkill but its not a good thing if it is to ruff on ya girls. .. Ur gonna wanna stand back... That tthing looks beastly...

ive never ph for anything ive sprayed i do the forbid @ 1ml per g(if i did .5ml per g i didnt get 100% kill rate) , i would just spray the bottoms first then tops just like normal. if its a really bad infestation webs id wait 30 min and then respray the tops as they will crawl to the top to try to dry off.
i never had to respray flora or avid after forbid, i have it but havent needed to. i did 2 sprays 5days apart havent seen anything survive. id start out making a half gallon of solution as you have a tiny area to cover.

i highly doubt you will need to use floramite or avid afterwards. id be willing to bet after forbid a standard ipm without forbid,avid,floramite will keep you pest and mildew free.

please wear a mask while you spray or are in the room after spraying. :tiphat:

That's the same advice I was planning to offer. Fog/mist is easily inhaled. At around $35, a pesticide respirator is a bargain.

I read that with the Hudson, it should not be used in small confined space (like tent, or left running in a room) because they do not want fog being sucked in, intake of unit.

Could be used with tent, feeding into air inlet.
