SbS EZ-CloneTesting : Life rooting gel and solution vs. Clonex gel and solution

The great guys down at RX Green Solutions gave me a free 16 site EZ-Cloner, and their LIFE cloning products, to do a side-by-side test with my EZ-Cloner with Clonex gel and clone solution.
They say their stuff is free of carbonates and is a much cleaner, inexpensive product to use.
They claim it does a better job than Clonex products at a cheaper cost. We shall see.

Strain: GG#4

I got the EZ-C 120 set up with the Clonex gel and Clonex Clone Solution in the rez w/ a 5.7 ph.
Once these are done I will use the new clone machine with the Life Gel and Solution to compare results.

GL with the glue...

In the past, I to did this experiment. I concluded that those rooting products do not do much more than nothing at all, in water cloning. In dirt/media, it has a chance to stay on the cut, otherwise the water washes it off in short time, even the gel.

But let me ask, why is it that everyone is so caught up in roots in so many fewer days? If I can get roots (home made bubble cloner) in as few as 7 days (with no root whoremoans:biggrin:), why might I need them in 3?

This experiment isnt about faster roots. Its about healthier, fuller root systems which in turn make for faster vegging and transition time. Also.... saving $ doesnt hurt either.
This experiment is for the guys at Green Solutions and for anyone who uses aero cloners to propagate root systems.

I allow the cutting to absorb the gel for a whole minute before placing in the cloner. Enough is absorbed into the stem so it does the job intended without being fully washed off. Even if it got washed off completely, the rez will continue to spray that mild gel solution onto the stems so it actually gets absorbed into the plant over a few days, there-by doing its job anyways.

There again if you want to save money try neither. My clones cost about a quarter to make {25¢}. Built the cloner myself and NEVER use a drop of anything in the cloner but straight chlorinated water. (That's right I don't Bubble my cloner water. The minute chlorine helps keep the anaerobic bacteria away) straight water and no nutes or hormones and I get roots in 6-8 days strain depending. Temps and environment are more important than these plant drugs you're giving themm

First sign of roots ~ DAY 6 :)

Still green and healthy ~

I think I like the Clonex Clone Solution over the Olivias Clone Solution so far. It is yellowish clear, while the Olivias is more organic and it needs occasional stirring to keep the sludge off the bottom of the rez.

Looking good overgrow. lots of solid info. cloning is my weak point an looking forward to decrease transition times as well.

be well an bsafe

You should see the roots now at day 10. Very thick and healthy roots.
They are more than ready for the t/p into FFOF soil today.
Just found my camera so will take pics today before the t/p.
Im extremely happy with the results from Clonex Gel and Clonex Solution.

myself havent seen anything other then the purple gel. curious as to where the new recipe went.

so overgrow, ph 5.7 , an how many mill per gall of the clonex you use? the recommended on the bottle i have states 20mil per gal.

keep getting the slime on an off. 2 seperate 32 site cloners, somtimes i get slime, sometimes dont. clean, bleach, new pucks, distilled water, erythromicine ( spelling).

gonna get another cloner soon an try cloning away from the other 2 an no interaction of equipment with the old cloning solution etc. what a rollercoaster its been cloning for me... an the ezcloner is best as im in growstones. if i wasnt in hydro i'd go rapid rooters like i can clone in, but floding net pots an rapid rooters dont go so well.

1 ~ I use 1/2 bottle in a 20gln rez.

2 ~ Slime is a problem when you dont have bubble stones airating the water. Get bubble stones and a strong airpump and the slime will go away. Rez temps around 78*.

3 ~ A new cloner wont help. Get the first cloner dialed in and good results will follow. I haven't changed a puck in 7 years. I just rinse them off in the shower while still in the top of the cloner.

Thats not what this thread is for.... but I can.
If you guys are more interested in seeing those results, rather than between the two cloning products, than Ill do that after I do the RX Green Solutions test.
