Summer growin - HOT HOT HOT

Well I thought I would run a journal of my summer run.

My system remains the same as usual. 2 Gavita 600 400v lamps, Gavita LEP plasma. 6 plants in 12 lt air pots. Coco. House and garden feed with CX sup potash and head masta. Two drippers per pot and dripped once an hour for 1 minute in flower.

Plants were vegged under plasma for a week, then plasma and T5 for another week. Then 4 weeks under 600W of T5.

Strains for this run are all new to me.

Stardawg Illuminati Cut
2 x WD40
Blue Menie
Casy Jones Joe Schmoe
Dog Jones

I had originally intended to run 2 CJ JS cuts but these for some reason died on me and as I wanted to test this cut of CJ out I decided to throw the mum into flower. When I say mum I don't mean one that has been donating cuts, she was just vegging away in my mother tent since I recieved her.

Because of this I have vegged all plants for 2 weeks longer than normal so I can do a cut back. This super charges the plants and all stretch is dedicated to creating bud. I cut all plants back to the height of my scrog screen system which is 40cm.

The plants will be vegged for a further 3 days. 36 hours dark and then flowered. I will install the scrog screens in next day or so.

The tent, pre cut back.

A little bit of root porn. The key to cut back technique is to have a very healthy root zone and plant at point of cut back. This then gives the plants a huge root zone in comparison to the size of the plant going into flower.

Nice tips can't wait for this...

From rooted clone how long before you start multi feeding? Do you do a series of pot ups or just straight into 12l?

I swear I replied to this thread last night... strange things a gwan.

Looking immaculate as always H! I bet all that equalising took a lot of work, but I'm sure it'll pay off with huge yields of A grade. Is that a modular scrog a la VG?

Nice strain selection too.

Peace

Looking good :)

but, what's WD40? lol does it really smell like WD40 or something? I'm off to try n find some info, though I get the feeling googling WD40 isn't going to help much :D

WD40 is a White Dawg (JJNYC's The White x Tresdawg) selected by Dynamite.

Those plants all look lovely! So by clipping the tops it makes the existing areas where bud would grow more heavily budded? Or does it force the plant to make more bud sites? Also i noticed you said you would but putti g them in darkness before initiating flower- if you cut the tops do you have to do this darkness period before flower? Cheers mate sorry for being such a dumbarse with all my questions lol

Hot like a Riviera eh what id do for a palm tree to look at and some sea air or at least a pool! :bigeye: looks a marvel herb im especially enthusiastic cuz i see the bm and dj there!
I thought the bm was fast but was amazed by speed of the the dj (sheer class that plant) nothing wrong in sniping some off for ya self at 7 weeks!! (wg's a big fan too as you know)
The speed doesnt make sense to me cuz its 9 week chem d x 11 week chemmyjones!?
got to be some gene "reaction" eh! lol
I had "tiny bananas" come out at a day before 9wks rdwc will be interesting to see how that fairs on a coir dripper system?
love the rail things :)

( :( im back on my ip the cheapo samsung drives me nuts.. Got to draw a line somewhere..
mightly important thing to say :D )

Hehe, easily done mate.

Well once the clone is rooted they get potted on to a 1l pot. They stay in this for about a week getting fed every other day. Then on to a 3 lt pot for about another 10 days. Initially fed at once every other day then onto hand feeding once a day.

Then they go into their final 12Lt pots and the drippers get installed. The first feed is by hand until run off. Then the next day I'll start dripping at 3 x feeds during lights on for 1 min. Rising to 4-5 feeds towards the end of veg.

You'd think it takes a while, but probably only took me 10-15 mins. I have been doing cut backs for year and if at the end you don't feel uneasy about how much you have removed then you have not removed enough. You have to be really harsh. But yes, it means lots of long colas of bud right to the screen. Virtually no shit and all easy to trim.

Should only be attempted with strains that stretch. A low stretch indica would not work well.

It is a modular scrog, kind of like VGs I suppose. It means I can remove the plants if ness and get to work all around them. But what I normally do I just pull the centre front plant out which means I can get into the tent and work on all the ladies.

Well when you flower a stretchy plant you inevitably end up having to remove the lower 2/3rd of plant as it gets shwaggy due to low light penetration. Meaning there is a lot of energy going into support the plants extra height etc.

This way you minimise the wasted growth so the plant can put more energy into building buds.

Also, due it the oversized root mass in relation to the plant top it can really push out the sites, and the sites which would have only produced whispy shitty branches of bud become nice, fat heavy colas. And yes you create more bud sites.

But the main thing is you are keeping the plant shorter which means light penetrate better to the lower levels.

And I generally put all plants that are going into flower into 36 hour dark before flower. This initiates the plants hormonal response to flower, again saving a tiny bit of stretch and shaving perhaps a day or so off of flowering time.

And you are not being a dumbass mate. It's not a normal technique. Less is more, and this is how you achieve it.

My biggest plant so far was a pot of gold in a 40lt soil under its own 600w. Vegged for about 4-5 weeks from seed, cut back. Yielded 18.7oz.

I'm looking forward to seeing how these progress. The BM looks so cheesy in its growth style.

The nannas on the Dog Jones will be from the CJ. When I run mine to 84 days she spits out nannas all over. And they are quite fertile, so if one is perpetually growing she can fuck up your crop.

But I won't be snipping anything early. They will all have to run until the last one ripens, I'm guessing this will be the CJ JS. I'll prob end up harvesting the lot around 77-84 days.

Now the crit mass and karma train are fast. I reckon the cm could come down at 8 weeks, but I'll push her to 9 - 9.5.

The rails are PVC plumbing pipe. Easy to build and extend if ness. Just got to cable tie the net over them.

One other thing to note, if you try a cut back only leave the plant a few days to recover. You don't want to start vegging again for more than 3/4 days. Else it defeats the object of the cut back.

And it doesn't work with plants that have been continually cut back, like a mother plant.
