next step after winterizing bho?

So I've made a few good batches of shatter and wanted to attempt dewaxing.

I dissolved the oil in 190 proof grain alcohol, then put it into a 0° F freezer for 48 hours. Then it was filtered thru a chilled buchner funnel.

After I had the filtered brew, I used a double boiler at approx 105° to aid in evaporation and got most of the solvent out.

This is my question;

After most solvent has evaporated I put the pyrex dish in my vac chamber to pull a muffin, but it does not muffin like it does using only butane.

How does one get the filtered ethanol oil out of the pyrex dish, without agitating, onto parchment paper for a thin film purge?

Thanks much grow bros,

You guys always Save my ass :tiphat:

In a large enough dish to purge in a thin film under 29.5" vacuum at 115F.

I am probably mistaken but I thought after you completed the winterizing process you did not have to purge? I was going to use BHO and Hash and use the winterizing process and let the 90% ISO evaporate..? Are you saying after I filter the Winterized BHO I still have to vac purge?

Was hoping you would drop in, much respect to you Wolf.

It is definitely thin enough in its current dish, so you're saying to just go ahead and purge until solvent bubbles stop in the pyrex?

Then how does one get the shatter out of the dish? Scrape with a razor blade?

How do I get the large sheet of glass like I've seen on this site? I was able to achieve that without dewaxing, but the end product is not as desirable in my opinion. Now I just got to figure out how to make it look pretty :)

Thanks GW , much props to you. I follow a lot of your posts. :tiphat:

I don't think you ever have to vac purge. It does speed up the process and helps you to achieve a certain consistency like glass/shatter. Just my opinion, though. Hopefully GW can clear that up..

And core I do not believe you want to use iso unless you're looking to make ISO hash, I believe the 190 proof ethanol (everclear) is what you want.

I was going to make BHO, let it evaporate. Freeze the ISO, Mix in the BHO, put it in the freezer overnight, take it out after 24 hours or so, scrape off the top layer and run it through a coffee filter. Evap the ISO and you have BHO without the tane, fats, waxes. I think i read it on a tutorial.

You don't have to purge the butane, but you still do the alcohol.

Yes, when the solvent bubbles cease, pull it out and scrape to remove.

You can purge with heat and no vacuum, but it takes longer.

When you say it does not muffin what does it do? I usually always winterize and I always get a muffin of sorts, but not as big or volatile as butane. After it settles it acts just as normal. You can tell which are solvent bubbles. I purge at 110 under full vac. However I do initial evap at room temp. You may have pulled enough ethanol out with double boiler that you won't really get a "muffin" just small solvent bubbles.

You don't have to purge the butane, but you still do the alcohol.

So even if I dissolve bubble hash into ISO and winterized, I have to finish with a vac purge of the final product?

I thought vac purging was just for Butane? Thanks Gray Wolf for the info.

Especially if you dissolve the oil in Iso, it will have to be purged.

More latitude with ethanol but all solvents have to be purged, unless you are making a tincture.
