Actually LST training should be done while the plant is still in veg.
The latest I would LST train is a few days before puting them into flowering, I like tying them down a week or two before.

or only in flower?

LST should really only be done in veg. It is stressing your plant, not what you want to do in flower phase.

so if I'm going to flower in a week, should I not LST? reason I'm saying is that plant is in a 2 gallon container, and it's pretty close to the light and I only have 4' of height, and the hood is pretty big, since it's an aircooled reflector hood.

No, you can train still if you have a week before you switch to flower. You only have 4 inches between light and plant, you have no more room to raise light? If not you might have some other issues

Bend it over and flower right away and tie down anything that busts your canopy limit.
Keep tying shit down until the stretch is over and you'll do OK, just don't toast them with the light.

I just raised the light, I have another 1' to raise the light, my cab size is 4 (ft.) and light (hood) is 7 inches tall, and I believe container is 15" tall, it's a 2 gallon

Will it need a transplant before the switch?
If so you can just transplant them on a angle wich is alot like LSTing, you can tie the main grow tiips down at the same time, maybe give it a few veg days before flowering if transplanting.

S

You have to gauge the stretch, the plant will likely double in heigh, can you manage the space?

if I flower by the end of the week I should be able to have enough space, I think I've changed my mind and won't LST this time (first grow) and just see how it does, I tried the rubberband method, but the rubberbands won't hold the string, I can drill holes and LST that way, but since it's my first time I'll just take a clone and test LST with that.

If this is your 1st grow then you sound like you are right. Let the plant go normally, payattention to growth habit though. Like how much does it stretch , is the alot of side branching, how many budsites.. things of that nature. You may find some plants are great single cola plants ( Some indicas) as opposed to plants that respond well to training since they stretch ( Sativa doms grown indoors is a good example).

Pay attention to your plants, they will tell you wht they like.

it's a white widow it looks like a bush, I'd rather have a plant that has less leaves and more budsites, here are some pics. (just a sec.)

alright here are some pics., you can notice some discoloration, I've already posted this in "cannabis infirmary", people suggested that it might not be getting enough food and to add some diluted epsom salt water which I have. I only feed nutrients once a week so that could be the issue, I only feed once a week since it's in ocean forest which is pretty strong.

so the plant is 6", container is 15", that's about 2.5 ft., hood is 7", so I have a about 1 ft. of flowering room?. since plants double in size, I guess I should flower now? kinda unsure about what to do.

Hey dnb, LSTing will definately make them bushier, if you start tying them down now, u could probably pull off another 2 weeks of veg rather than 1 with that height (specially if u have an aircooled hood)... more veg = bigger yield imo, just my 2cents ive been lsting mine and its been working great ive also got bout a week or so till i put them in 12/12

well since this is my first grow i'm thinking of testing lst with a clone since i'm not exactly sure how, I have an old faq from overgrow, probably just need to study more. I understand the overall procedure and what's the purpose and what it does, etc.., but don't understand exactly which branches/stems I need to pull to the side.

Just uploaded these, here are a few more. In the ones I previously posted some of that was LSTed and some of that I crush down with my hands so they underlying brush can get light. It stays like that for a little while, but provides light to the rest of the plant for that time. Also you will notice in the first pic..a skunk how thick the main stalk is. I broke it and it mends itself and is twice as strong at that point, and it made some new growth.

definately post your pics., in cannabis infirmary they're very helpful one of the things they mentioned was that ph is probably off, so I ordered a digital ph tester from e-bay for about $30 including shipping, and was recommended by a grower as well
