Has anyone ever managed to get a male to reveg?

Has anyone managed to get a male to reveg? I've been trying, but i can't seem to get any to completely revert to veg. There will be new growth and plenty of shoots, but the pollen sacs keep on forming.
Just wondering if anyone else has had any success or tips or if i'm wasting my time.
I have no problem revegging females, i do it often.

you have posted something i've been somewhat curious about
i often see posts about breeder's prize males
this only makes sense(to me), if the male can be continued to be grown over a period of time
that may not be revegging, may be more like your experience, but i guess either situation would work to keep a male going(?)

I've only tried to reveg a male once. It never seemed to fully revert, and kept growing pollen sacs and dropping pollen, but it also kept growing and never seemed to go into senescence. I ended up keeping it for around six months or so before finally giving it the chop, but not until I had made mad amounts of seed with it :D

i have reveged a male that has been living with me for over a year now. it absolutely will not flower in a veg light schedule (18/6).

Tend to rely on revegging now and dont take clones til late in flower if they look to be worth it.

Girls have been near 100% but have had 50/50 results with males , many seem to have a determinate life , stems start to brown from within and dies part revegged.

However , even chop day clones root pretty fast and have been very reliable , getting some live material off the doomed rootstock asap seems to work , constant low level florescents over a dialled in bubbler , roots in 10 days if a normal clone takes 5 - 7 , a month to reveg and ready to go or reclone.

Subjectively , fast indica males are more difficult , still take clones in late veg of the fat leaved males just in case i want them later.

Had one male that seemed to hang up hormonally somewhere along the line , stalled for six weeks like in stasis then revegged as normal for no obvious reason.

I've reveg'd a male and same thing it continued to produce male flowers and I think it dropped some pollen too. I picked off all of the male flowers and fed with N fertilizer and it eventually started to grow normally.

24h lights will help to reveg males.

I like Iron Lions advise: "I picked off all of the male flowers and fed with N fertilizer and it eventually started to grow normally."

I´ve seen it works for indica males, unfortunatly not so with sativa males, though others might have had success with revegin them too.

Would be carefull in removeing male pods , the new growth appears through the florescence similar to females growing out through the old bud , lost a few till i realised.

I had the same experience, from 12/12 to 20/4.

I had it in flower for about 2 weeks - just enough to start pixie dusting, then tossed it back into veg after cutting it back a bit. Despite several weeks of 20/4, the plant continued to grow male flowers and drop pollen, though it seemed to be about half vegging - never got the leaves to do a barrel roll. I never cut off the flowers, just used them to continue chucking.

Kept the male alive for a couple months. Took clones which rooted and grew out normally - still dropping flowers throughout.

That's exactly what i keep experiencing.
I was really hoping to get this DJBB male to completely reveg, as i lost the clones i took from him before flower.

Thanks for the input guys. It's reassuring to know that some have had success. Keep the ideas coming, i'm gonna try to reveg a bunch more males.

have you considered tissue culture for male reveg?
I did not try this technique yet, but it´s very interesting and since you´re working with cells here, might just get you where you want mayne.

Same exact problem I faced for a whole year now. Chopped a few clones the last days from a wonderful big outdoor male plant which smelled perfect grapefruit, but they did not make it, so I explanted the whole plant and put it under cfl 24/24. He revegged but never stopped making large viable pollen pods. I then succeded in cloning him and keeping for more than a year.
He needs frequent inspection, but never fully revegged back to 3 blades leaves or more...
Even if he's ugly to see, he still smells good and produces viable pollen. Might be a little painful to keep around flowering females...
my two cents

They have been harder to keep alive than females thats for sure. As long as you are getting new leaf growth then that should be good and just pick off the balls as they come. Not sure if they ever stop once they start going BUT they grow balls in veg anyways SO why stress. Its the POLLEN that can mess with the room so keep that in check by chopping and toppin your males so they are easy to inspect for balls etc.

maybe this is what the big breeders mean by keeping a stud around, just put it back in veg and keep pulling pollen off hahaha the plant that keeps on giving. im playing but fuck, it could be a good thing.

it felt like males seem to auto flower once sex or started sexing.most males that grew out of random bag seed that i grew always showed sex when matured and kept going regardless of time schedule while females would preflower in veg schedule but wouldn't flower until 12/12 or it was fall outside.maybe the way male's flower are different from females :2cents:

could be wrong thought just a educated guess:tiphat:

Been doing the same thing when breeding with high numbers as the cost benefits analysis imo is well worth it by the amount of financial and work time saved. I have revegged many males now. I use coco and I haven't really had a problem getting them to reveg 1 of 2 of the same clone makes it the majority of the time I would say 80%.

I pick healthy thick cuts for males and accept no thin stems etc...I find it especially important for males to use the best possible cutting and for the male to be in complete health. It seems the male clones are more volatile and probably as a result of having a shorter life span. I have best luck using the top of the main cola.

I currently have a male Blue Hash plant that I have been collecting pollen from and just switched over to 24/0.
we'll see what happens.

I've re-vegged plenty of males and there have been 1-2 that just wouldn't revert to veg(biddy early being 1) but most of the time they re-veg fine,i just trim them back so theres just a few lower branches with plenty of leafs and wack em on 18/6 and give em a dose of bio bizz grow and seaweed extract and within a month thy start to re-vegg.
