Thanks for the name inspiration for this one miss green dreamz. This is a pre emptive start for my next round because I was going to go the super soil route this time and not fool with the bottle any more. I've been reading about sub cools recipe along with others here on the site, thanks nameless and green dreamz! I'm starting this so I can get feedback on the recipe and tweak it as necessary. I'll be using roots organics soil, EWC, Napa DE, soft rock phosphate, and guanos since I already have them. I can't be too much more specific because I'm not exactly sure what the store has after these ingredients and I'll have a much better idea after I go there and buy some stuff. I know that this will be much like a home improvement project in that there is never just one trip to the store. I will be cooking the mixture for 3 or 4 weeks and I will be putting in the old soil from this grow as plants are harvested. I have some rubbermaid bins that I will use to cook the soil and turn it every so often. I will update later today with the items I was able to come across. I would love anybody to chime in with their opinions on how to improve. Thanks.

Yes.... please be sure to cook the soil and veg for a while in it.

Dispensary in the next town was all agog over supersoil.... bat shit tastes like shit though... and so did their meds. Not enough veg time and harvesting with soil that's still hot. Bleah!

Good luck and...

Went to the store and got dr. earth's soft rock phosphate and the kelp meal. Also got napa DE, EWC, alaskan humus, happy frog all purpose 5-5-5, and I have N and P guanos, roots organic potting soil 1.5 cubic feet, and a bag of coco coir around 2 cubic feet. I figured on flowering out 9 girls this time in at least 5 gallons and was trying to figure out increments to mix this stuff up at. At first the mix will probably be "hot" but I figured on adding in the used FFOF soil that has the girls finishing in it right now. Here's what I figured

1.5 cubic feet roots organics
2 cubic feet coco
.5 cubic feet alaskan humus
1 cubic foot EWC (minus a little saved for ACT's)
2 cups lime
2 cups DE
1.5 cups soft rock phosphate
1 cup N guano
3 cups P guano
2 cups kelp
2 cups happy frog all purpose
(Rest of the FFOF would be added as plants are chopped down - Bubblegum root ball is already in the mix now)

I figured with 9 girls @ 5 gallons I would mix up at least 50 gallons which is 7.77 cubic feet. Going to target to get some big ass rubbermaid bins and mix it up later tonight. Could I please get some feedback from ya'll on what you think? Thanks.

lol, was going to say add kelp. that is a good lookin mix right there boss...
also, once you start having to mix that much at a time, i feel kiddie pools are the way to go. might be hard to find them now though. stock up in the spring time, it usually takes me a year to destroy one...
make sure you are watering in some bennies and molasses every now and again at least. cant wait to see you rock this bad boy!

silver, ill trade you a heinekin for a sierra nevada...

I can see how a kiddie pool would be awesome but I wouldn't want one kicking around my apartment when I'm only going to use it one time before this lease is up probably. Don't see myself sticking around this side of town for another lease. Went to the store and got a 50 gallon rubbermaid storage bin though. Pretty perfect setup for what I need and it was also the biggest one that they had. I just didn't want to have to fool with two different medium sized tubs and end up with slightly different mixes somehow. As far as the mix that I came up with goes I pretty much took yours nameless and sized it to my needs while substituting the guanos. I would have sprung for some greensand too but it was like 19 or 20 bucks for the bag of it! As my buddy Ricky says, "Supply and command." How necessary is it for longterm K anyways? Should I suck it up and buy it or get it off the internet? The local store here is having a 20% off sale in a couple of days so should I suck it up and buy the greensand? In any case this is getting mixed up now and if anybody has anything to add then by all means drop some knowledge on my domepiece and I can mix it in later. Thanks.

Greensand not only gives long term K, but it's a great soil conditioner as well. You can get by without it, but if you can scrape the cash together, one box will last quite a while, greensand as well as other minerals have excellent long term results. Up to you, gl!

yeah i would try and get some, i get the big bag of espomas for about 26 i think... i dont really add it for K myself more of a soil conditioner like opt said and for all the minerals and clays and stuffs, im not a greensand wizard or anything but i think its pretty important. i would use it before DE or azomite or soft rock phosphate...

Going to the store to get some greensand today after all. Have to get some more molasses as well. I've only turned the soil once after the initial mixing but I've watered it with a gallon probably two different times. Will be mixing it again with 2 cups of greensand later today. Coming to the realization that I will probably be able to only add another #5 buckets worth of used FFOF soil in there before I don't have enough room in the big container to mix things properly without soil spilling out. I was wondering how this would translate into transplanting clones into this mix now. Would it be better to transplant the rockwool cubes into gallon containers with just the used FFOF and liquid nutes until last transplant into the #5 containers? Or possibly take super soil and mix with equal parts used FFOF and plant clones directly in that? Looking to start new round after Christmas vacation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

If the clones can't wait, I would just use the super soil in the bottom of the pot, then use the normal mix in the upper half... give or take, in the one gallon pots that is.

That way your clones shouldn't burn, and by the time they reach the super soil they will be ready for it.

The last thing you want to do is burn your clones...then ur fucked inless you have backups. Don't forget the myco!

OR, to be safe you could just transplant the clones into half gallon containers with just Roots organic soil. It shouldn't take the clones too long to fill the pots with roots, by then they will be ready for that organic mix.

I don't want to buy new/more soil as I would rather reuse the FFOF that I already have. I like the concept of closing the loop as much as possible and reusing everything that I have. In this scenario could I not just pot them in the used FFOF and use remaining bottled nutes that I have to tide the clones over til they get established and big enough to handle the soil mix?

Thanks for the heads up OPT! Just learning this as I'm going along so thanks for the help. Anybody else got 2 cents to throw my way?

I'm still alive and well, this project just had to take a break before it even really started. Finally ended up getting some new clones and they are rockin' and rollin'. I will post a more proper update when I get around to it but the flavors I have this round are - Buddhas Sister, Big Bud Blueberry, Lime Green Skunk, Grape Skunk, California Orange and Triple Diesel. I have two questions that I need help with though. I was originally planning on doing more plants in 5 gallon containers but it looks like I'll be stuck flowering in this tent again after all so I will be rocking just the 6 girls. I was wondering though if I could fit 7 gallon containers in there instead of just the 5 gallons that I rocked last run. If my tent footpring is a square meter will 7 gallon containers fit in there? I don't know what their diameter is compaired to the 12" diameter of the #5 pots. Also, I was trying to plant some "living mulch" and was looking at doing a mix of clover instead of just regular dutch white clover. While looking for clover mixes the most common thing to pop up is clover mixes for feed plots for deer. I was wondering how good an option this is? Here is a link with some good mixes http://www.monsterbuckfoodplot.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=M&Category_Code=MMA I was looking mainly at the "clover treat food plot seed" Any of you guys know anything about the pot size and living mulch stuff? Thanks.

Thanks for sticking your head in hawaiian. Went by the store and the 7 gallon containers are too big so I'll have to stick with the 5 gallons after all. Anybody else know anything about this seed mix stuff though? Thanks.

Going to pot them up to the 5 gallon buckets with the super soil mix probably tomorrow.
