The White x F13 smoke report

Hi!
I had the chance to grow this cross (The White clone x DJ's F13), which was made by Vash, after a deep search in the F13 genes for a fertile father.
I grow mainly outdoors, in a nice tropical place. The weather is usually very good for cannabis, however some seasons are more difficult than others (long rainy episodes). Last year was not bad, and allowed me to try this wonderful hybrid.
Under my latitude, the photoperiod does not exceed 14h of light at summer solstice (longest day of the year), which has the direct consequence of triggering most strains into flower very soon (sometimes too soon). This lady broke the ground during the very first days of July (winter down here), and was exposed to a light source every night to prevent early flowering. After 6 weeks of vegetative growth I stopped giving her light at night and she soon responded as expected. At the "switch", she was transplanted from a 2gal pot to the ground, in a nice sandy loam, where she flowered.
60 days later exactly, she was ripe.
The sample I'm describing hadn't been cured at the time of smoking, only dried for about a week. (I kept a cut which I'll be running soon, and plan to do another smoke report in due time)

Appearance: The dry buds were rock hard with a very nice golden color with some purple here and there (doesn't show well on the pics, I lack photography skills). Some of the densest buds I've ever seen, and to my surprise not a single bit of mold was found on them, in spite of the rain during the last weeks of flower (other strains showed some).

Aroma: Freshly cut, she had a sweet smell, equal parts citrus (lemon-like), with a hint of "redness" to the smell that reminds me of strawberries. There was a thick background odor, very similar to coffee/moccha and caramel. Not skunky but very indica in my book.
After a week of drying, some of the sweetness had faded a bit, leaving more importance to the moccha smell, however when you break a bud the sweetness comes back and is very nicely balanced with the thicker aromas.

Taste: The taste is great (dank in fact). It is fresh on the inhale, hints of pine, ginger (I love ginger) and earthy notes. The smoke is smooth, yet expansive if held for a bit too long. As you exhale, more floral flavors come out, with spicy and not exactly fruity, but sweet notes. A good cure would certainly improve things, but this is already a great smoke as it is (one of, if not the best I've had).

Effect: This herb is very potent, a couple hits hit you hard, heavy eyelids, instant body stone. Then as the high settles in (after a few minutes), the body relaxation translates to the mind, leaving you chilled and calm, then from there things can vary a bit. I found it somewhat mood-expanding, meaning that if you're already tired when you smoke this, you can fall asleep easily. But if you're into playing music, for example, or into something creative, then this is great herb, as the high can be very cerebral once you manage to open those eyelids back.

Overall, I really liked this herb, to put it simple I rank it amongst the top 3 I have smoked, and number one I have grown. Taking into account that she could have been grown in better conditions (she was almost rootbound at the time of transplant, vegged only 6 weeks and had some spider mites - which couldn't keep on with the rate she put out her flowers), I am very happy to have kept a clone. It will allow me to really dial her in and why not make some nice crosses for the future.
I'd like to thank Vash for his generosity and making it possible for me to run her, she is my Holy Grail!

Awesome to know that more than one person is working on such high quality hybrids. Knowing there are two different seed lines going around of this cross is kinda cool. Going to love to seeing the difference between the two fathers over the next year as folks start sprouting these beans!

PS. I have a pack of these (White x F13) made by Retardo Motabon to sprout on a rainy day as well. Only I don't want to because then I won't have a pack of them to sprout anymore...ehehehe!! One day though, these gems will find their way to the lights...

dank.frank, don't sit on these man, even if you're not on a rainy day, pop them and make f2s for a rainy year lol! :D
Thanks Mud Man, having never grown pure f13 (they're on my list, probably later this year) neither the White clone, I couldn't tell you where these flavors came from. All I know is the f13 crosses I have tried all had aromas/flavors that I found nowhere else.
Keep it green buddies!
