A few questions about using Gibberellic Acid

Good Eve everyone:tiphat:
I'm going to be conducting my own research on making feminized seeds and have narrowed down my method to using Gibberellic Acid.
I have some with me right now, 90% GA3 powder, and have a general idea on how to use it but am confused about dissolving method and dilution ratio
Can you dissolve it in water or does it have to be dissolved in Alcohol first then diluted with water?
What would be the best water to dilute with, tap, RO?
And lastly, what ppm's should I shoot for in my mix? I've read that 100ppm's is ideal.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Take some alcohol...that 92% you used for QWISO works great. Take about a teaspoon and dissolve the GA3 in it. Add a little more if it won't dissolve. Now add this to the distilled water... Yup, what I hear is 100-125ppm is ideal. I tried it twice...once I got ONE male flower that was sterile. The next grow, nothing. Have you looked into STS? I'm going to try that next time.

Thanks for the reply ibjamming!
What you described is almost exactly how I thought it should be dissolved.
I have looked into STS and that will be my next choice if I'm not happy with the results I get from the GA3.
When in flower do you think is the best time to apply?

I hit a branch on my pineapple express with 500 ppm for 5 days, and so far no nanners.
Also tried on a Sour 60 plant with no success. I have noticed Sour 60 is herm prone even without GA3 treatment, but the plant I hit with it for 5 days was a true fem.
I hope your results are better. Consider this a bookmark.
Good luck.

What week in flower did you spray? Damn I hope I have better luck...

Thanks bro. I'm about 5 days away from that. Much appreciated.

No prob, I'm interested too. Not many people using GA3 from what I've found. Search doesn't bring up much on the subject, and haven't found much on the webs either.

I think you'd be wiser getting advice from someone who actually got it to work!

I've done it for 10 days before flowering...nothing but a HUGE stretch! That branch I treated with it shot up! Like a foot higher than anything else. But no flowers...not male anyway, just some VERY sparse female flowers...almost like prefloweres...just a few running right along the stem.

The other, the one that got me one whole male flower...sterile of course...was sprayed after flowering already started...maybe a week into actual pistil growth. It took a couple of weeks for that one nanner to pop open, I dusted a few places but got no seeds.

I've heard bad results with CS too. Most of the guys who used up their silver dimes to make it, seem to not get any male flowers either.

I ended up keeping one male alive long enough to get some pollen. In fact, that's when I found my "he/she", the Apollo11 male that turned into a lady. I had 2 males going, I kept taking the balls off, to keep them from throwing pollen until my ladies were ready for them, then suddenly one started throwing out pistils.

I'd really like to know a proper way to do it.

Fem seeds save you the hassle of growing out twice the plants you're going to need. You plant a seed, you get a viable female. That's why I wanted to make them. I wanted to avoid that part of the crap shoot when planting seeds. I don't have the resources to keep clones...

Good luck!

STS silverthiosulfate has had positive reports. CS also, but it seems to have alot of variables. My Sour 60 attempt with CS failed also. Maybe its cause I wasn't holding my mouth right while spraying?
And the growth certainly does get tweaked with GA3.

From everything I've read, it seem GA3 is to be applied for 10 consecutive days, in flower.
But when in flower?

Looks to me that Gibberellic Acid is more of a growth hormone. What about spraying in veg to increase size?

Most say before...though I've seen anytime is fine. Like I said, I've done both with zero fertile male flowers.

Oh no...I did it and got a branch that towered above the rest...but it was ALL internode space. Like 6-8 inches between nodes. The rest of the plant was a bush. I've tried it on others too. Not as much, but quite a bit of stretch with no leaves. It makes the leaves thin too.
