hey all i have a plant thats on its seventh day of week four of flower and iv noticed a few of the smaller tops have what looks to be a little bit of burn on the very top pistils, could this be from too much pk 13-14 or some thing else,im quite sure its not from heat as the affected tops are lower than others and i run a cooltube which i can sit my hand on without discomfort...:tiphat:
p.s my leaves are healthy and green totaly burn free! cheers

weird one... maybe the beginnings of mild nute burn as the pistils are closer to the roots than the leaves are...?? but i have never heard of nute burn in pistils. hope it doesn't affect your plant to badly. good luck buddy!

your on 5 weeks of flower? could be maturing or could it have been pollinated?

Me too!!!

This is weird Pinkskunk. The very top of one of my colas has a "burnt" look just as you described. However...it is shorter than most in my flock that do not exhibit this trait...and of the same strain, AND farther from my lamp. I just entered week 4 and am just noticing this. The plant itself looks great...other than some minor (very minor) light tips from nute burn. I've burnt this strain before (been growing it for a while) with nutes and have never seen this. Let's hope somebody chimes in with some more answers.

Don't know about yours Pink, but I am positive it's not pollinated. That was my first thought mooch...good call.

yeah sounds like the exact same sitcho as me!!!! def not a pollination issue as iv never had a male in this grow room or house for that matter. what i find wierd is that its the less mature bud sites that are doin it,all the bigger more progressed tops are still milky white pistils. thanks for replies so far guys!!!!

You can get that sort of color change in some cultivars with nutrient additives such as superthrive, B-Max, etc.

they get brown real quick if they run out of water at one points too

Good thought mrred.

pinkskunk....and progress?? I think mine might have been due to water as mrred suggested, or too much K. There are new pistils growing in taking their place, but I have a couple really orange nugs and I'm only in my 5th week.

Woah. I have this same problem, but with my 2 Bubba Gum plants. They are only on day 26 now and the pistils are turning brown! Some say it's from pollination, but there's no way a male plant pollinated these things, and I haven't found a hermie flower on either of the plants. I dunno. It's my first grow, so I'm kinda bummed out. I don't wanna get a bunch of seeds. Hahah.

greentrich, you lowered the amount of K? Maybe I should try that.

my pistils turned brown for no water, then they pretty much stopped growing, had to to cut the buds off then reveg

I did what I always do when there is a problem: Flushed with clearex, then started the nutes again at about half my normal dosage and brought ot back up over the next couple of feedings. To me, flushing is like rebooting your computer, whenever there's an issue: REBOOT! 90% of the time that fixes it. She now has a ton of new growth and is bangin' again. I don't think lack of water caused it as I popped a couple, including the one in question, out of the pots to inspect for root aphids. Apparently there's an epidemic of those going around. Anyway, point being is the coco was still really saturated. So I actually might be leaning towards a toxicity??? I dunno, I just know I flushed and all is good again. I think her yield might be a bit compromised, but at least it's not a total loss.

yeah i think it was a high k issue cause i gave a good flush and then went half strength and they are still goin strong with nice big pistils though like you said i too have a couple of nuggets that look almost done, weird as!

does the change in colour = bad though geopolitical?

Not generally. Pistil color has very little bearing on how ripe a plant is. Some plants may be ready to harvest when they all turn red/brown/purple/puce but other's won't be. If you really want to harvest a ripe plant invest in a nice 20x or better loupe or pocket microscope and learn to read trichs.

Pistil, leaf and bud color can all vary based on the plants genetics, the environment (warm OR cold or even large temp transitions between hot & cold), nutrients given, etc. I've had plants that finished during a 40 degree fall that ended up being barely ripe and all sorts of crazy colors.
