humble request/website suggestion

IMO it would great if, when locking a thread, the man or woman who did the locking explain(even in a word or two)what rule was broken. Not to justify/explain yourself as that is obviously unnecessary, but to help users understand what there offense was as to not do it again in the future.

Merry Christmas.

...yeah then we get embroiled in some sort of never ending arguments of why?.....what-for?.....why-me?.....e.t.c. Ad projectile nauseum....

We lock threads for lots of reasons, not necessarily due to an offense by anyone. we don't have a place to put a reason, so it means the mod must also add a post to explain why they did what they did. Realize too, that usually the mod has already responded to a complaint and might make a reply to the complainer too. How much work is necessary just to close a thread?

And that will probably lead to another thread where it will be argued about. When that gets closed, another opens up with the same discussion and it never ends.

Tell me how that adds to the quality content of the site to just argue about mod actions. it just adds to the mods workload and makes everyone more irritable.

If the mod wants to explain themselves, that's up to them. It would be most appropriate if a very popular thread gets closed.
