New Growth Deformed - Spreading thru whole cab

Hey There,

My veg cab has something spreading... most new growth shoots start off very white and hairy....

then they grow out to a deformed, hairy, spindly mess... see photos

First pic is the LSD that has the problem the worst...

Any Thoughts?

The fan leaves on all the plants are very thick and ridged. And feel heavy and brittle, but not dry at all. All the other plants in my flower tent have nice normal leaves so I dont think its a genetic thing...

I had topped and pruned these plants a week ago, maybe I infected the plant some how?

We had some powdery mildew in the room earlier and sprayed with einstien oil and a fungicide and it seemed to stop the spotting on the leaves...

Any help would be appreciatted.... these plants are hopefully going to be our moms for a while, and clone only strains like OG Kush and Green Crack... kinda stressing out,

Thanks

Calcium, boron, copper, etc.
Could be caused by underfeeding or ph too low.

thats what I was thinking.... I have fed them a couple times but never a full veg strength mix (AN Nutes, was just working up to that... plants are 5 weeks old) but my friend thinks the powdery mildew is to blame.

I will test my PH level of run off when they wake, but my question is

if it is low, and low ppm's, should I flush and feed regular strength?

should I even flush at all or just give them some food?

Would these def. problem also be the reason why some of the leaves are thick feeling and hard like leaves, but not crispy? (if that makes any sense at all)

thanks for the reply

So I fed with my AN 3 part at about 900ppms, ph'd to 6.4 and the run off was 6.0 - 6.2 for all plants....

so I know Ph isn't the issue, must be under feeding...

When I top and take cuts from my plants does that increase the nutrient uptake? That could be my only thought to why they got so severely nute deprived.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

It's not powdery mildew. It's hard to see the pot size in the pics, but the mix looks like an 'organic' one, though you don't specify. Unless they're very potbound, any kind of deficiency is highly unlikely. After all, it is cannabis we're growing here, not orchids.

I don't know how much you took off the tops, but topped plants will use LESS of both water and nutrients, not more. A strong possibility is overwatering, especially if they're in large containers with a bit of root room.

That makes sense, I have them in small square pots, I believe they are under a gallon, standard small square pot size, ,lol... the plant is almost 6 weeks old in regular potting soil.

I have two cuttings that are showing the same traits as the seed plants, all in the same size pot, and all plants have been fed and watered the same.

I missed a watering when I was away, and thought my roomie would do it, but he forgot, doh, so I cant see it being over watering cause they just got to dry out real good, but they didn't look to bad... then I watered with plain water and took some cuttings. then the prob started.

i get that too with my small, few week old sativas, cept they arent as shrivelled BUT STILL just as plain retarded, and weak looking. I figure it's totally underfeeding in my case, ive been really lazy lately, maybe this intel can help you better discern

was the soil that you are using used previously for any other grows?

Same brand yes same exact soil no, its brand new...

Im hoping its underfeeding, but I have been giving them some nutes...

the leaves get very thick and rough feeling, but not to brittle, just not soft.

I have some cuttings of this plant hopefully rooting now, there might be a funeral for this LSD, looks pretty weak.

thanks for all the help, hopefully one day I can get it right with a plant.

Aha, so they were underwatered first, I knew it! Then, I stand on my first diagnosis, overwatered. Over and underwatering follow each other around like two dogs trying to get a sniff. The overdry period kills roots which then become part of the 'beer' you make in the soil out of the unused nutrients and rotting roots. I sure hope you're not adding insult to injury by feeding as well?

Well they were due for their feed so I gave em' the regular dose a couple days ago like previously posted, and they seem to be perking back up.

I was really light on the nutes since these girls were born/rooted, and made sure the soil was ready for more water every time, so I could see a deficiency being the issue, coupled with the extreme dry out/ water problem that happened.

Either way cuttings have been made before they got messed up and some are rooting now so not a big loss. I think I will be getting rid of the LSD anyways, looks all messed up, but want the existing cutting that are on it.

Its so strange cause our flower cab is rocking hard but we follow the same principles and watering strategy. Alls starting to turn around anyways, thanks guys!
